Genesis Ms Pacman label color

Recommended Posts

I'm going through my Genesis collection and getting rid of doubles. I have several copies of Ms Pac-man (yes, I know, doesn't everybody), but a smaller number of them have YELLOW colored text "Ms. PAC-MAN" on the end label. Most are pink. The yellow ones all also have Sega "Official Seal of Quality" on the front (the pink ones don't have this credential).

I'm guessing that somewhere along the line, Tengen stopped manufacturing them and Sega began, and that's the difference. I don't see any obvious differences in the game itself. The only other thing I noticed is that (most) of my pink ones, that came in a folding case, are in plastic cases, whereas (most of) the yellow ones are in cardboard boxes.

Just wondering if anyone else knows anything about this particular, critically important collector issue...

The red Tengen logo is the ones for Ms Pac Man that were released in the cardboard boxes, I learned this just the other day. The original Tengen Genesis release did not have the Sega Seal of Approval.

USA here, I got a yellow titled one in Spring of 1994 with the plastic clamshell case so I assumed it was the earlier release than the one with Ms. Pac-Man written in pink letters. The case even had the glued black Tengen sticker in the cartridge holder slot.

It has the Sega Seal of Quality on it.
