LouisB
Hi guys, the TLDR; is I have an Atari 520ST floppy drive situation where the head is twitching but the drive motor doesn’t want to spin up. *however* I noticed the drive motor appears to “charge up?” and spin slowly after some time? (I’m depressing the buttons at the front of the drive to fool it into thinking a disk is inserted.) I have a correct Sony MPF920 Z/121 JUN2005 drive with the jumper moved from SEL1 to SEL0. I wanted to check this symptom with you guys who have more experience, because I'm far from worthy of the atari gods at this point. Power supply maybe? Thanks for your Atari Wisdom. TGB1718
Have you tried different floppy disks, maybe the disk your using is jammed. Yes, I would also check power supply's
LouisB
I just tried a few more floppies, same thing. Seems like the drive wants to function, but can't get enough Juice. Next suspect is the solder connections or power supply or other. I'll keep going. Thanks! Edited October 17, 2021 by LouisB
Zogging Hell
Caps on the floppy drive itself? there was a post about it on here somewhere. I think some of the Sony drives are prone to to it, iirc there are two caps to replace that might solve the issue.
