Brewing Academy PBI HDD

Does anyone have these ? Any feedback ? As the owner of 2 black boxes with floppy boards, I'm always on the lookout for something with a smaller footprint.

avg cart/myide/ and the SIDE carts should all get you what you need as well, either using the sofware SIDE drivers or in combination with either a u1m/ or incognito

Thing about these is that they leave the cartridge port open

I use an eci to pbi with two cart slots so I still have one open... I can see the advantage for PBI slots though... I've heard good things about that adaptor there is also the kmk style IDE plus pbi drives...

Anyone have one of these, would be nice to see a picture of the setup screen(s)

 Simius'/drac030's IDE+2 is more flexible IMO, but may no longer be available.  Rev e & f were nearly as small.  Rev d a little bigger, but still way smaller than the BB.  But you're right -- the setup screen(s) should be quite helpful.

Read the description carefully. This device requires a driver in the form of the U1MB XEL-CF PBI BIOS, or the XEL-CF driver for SpartaDOS X. It works exactly like the Compact Flash adapter on the SIDE2/Incognito.

Without an U1MB, one couldn't use any other dos besides SDX? (And with an U1MB, one could?)

Correct. Exactly like any other hard disk adapter which isn't IDE Plus 2.0 or some other PBI device with on-board drivers.

 

If you use the xxx2cf3 adapter with the XEL firmware and plugins on an U1MB machine, you can use any DOS you like.

Does this ( Simius'/drac030's IDE+2 ) work with Mydos ?
