...makes me wonder though if the best way to market a Jag product is to make only a handful and put 'em up on ebay. It would save a lot of headaches and overhead in Manufacturing and inventory.

Perhaps, I dont really remember the starting prices on many, however the final price has remained a fairly constant average of about £50. The last couple of auctions have had far less bids than the early ones, and so I have raised the starting price a little yes.

It may be best for people who are just into this as an entertainment and hobby and just want to make back their investment. Clearly it's not something for someone like B&C who is trying to make a living doing it.

 

I just don't think it's possible to sell that way without someone sooner or later raking you over the coals for "gouging" or trying to "rip people off", or just cry all over the planet what a jerk you are because they waited eons for your product and can't buy one.

Well, on one hand T'bird is right, on the other Tyrant is right. In Tyrant's defense, it would make more sense to use ebay so he doesn't pull an ICD and he won't have to worry about taxes. I can see where T'bird is coming from though. Many times have I wished to just buy one of those Rotary controllers off you but instead I had to wait months and still not win the damn auction! I'd just make one myself if I knew where to get all the right parts at.

The only people that I can think of that do this are GoAtari, who always have tons of Jag auctions running I haven't asked them but I'm confident you'll find their eBay business does better than their online store, if only because their store prices are obscene and the auctions usually go for closer to market value

 

I know this was a frustrated semi-serious post, but I thought it worth pointing out that eBay does work for some people.

As someone who is getting back into the atrai swing of things after covering August for peeps who want to go on Holiday (why ).. I can honestly say

1) Tyrants goodies are a quality made, and good value :wink:

2) I sell the Rotary Controllers, mainly at shows... though they should be in my webshop... :wink:

3) I want to buy some more... and when I get back Lengenfeld hopefully Tyrant will still have some left

Thunderbird has a valid and legitimate point and I hope this doesn't dissolve into another bashing of him.

 

For Tyrant, I can see where he is coming from by listing the controllers on eBay. Trying to make a list of people who want to buy them and then build them in the limited amount of time he has for each person on that list will more than likely constantly get him posts & PM's about "Where is my Rotary Controller?".

 

The limited availability of a product like the Rotary Controllers or BSG is probably a no-win scenario for T-Bird & Tyrant. No matter what they do to make the product available they just aren't going to please everyone and will always have someone nitpicking about something.

 

Going by what Tyrant has said in the past, I probably agree with his eBay transactions. By doing it this way, everyone at least has a equal shot at getting one when they are available. And I'm sure it takes the pressure off of him of trying to "fill orders".
