fieroluke
I decided to design a 3D printable case for my homemade cartridge PCB. Looks good for the first attempt! Going to fiddle with the dimensions a bit, then proceed to design the other half. 3
Pixelboy
The shape looks really good, but the plastic seems somewhat "soft" and not super durable just from the look of it. Is that just me?
fieroluke
Actually, it is pretty durable. I printed this first attempt in PLA, but I’d recommend printing it in PETG or ABS, which is as durable as the originals. I did leave out the claws to hold the keyboard overlays to make it print nicely.
Pixelboy
There are 3D printers that can print ABS plastic? Didn't know that!

ABS is just challenging to print, but doable. But I prefer PETG, which prints as easily as PLA but is as durable as ABS. Main point is thermal stability, PLA can warp if left in a hot car, but I’ve had PETG parts I created for my car in my car through 2 summers with nowarp age at all. And ABS smells a lot during printing, another reason to go PETG. Edited November 30, 2021 by fieroluke

fiddlepaddle
A concrete cartridge would be cool.

fieroluke
Update: created the top and made the bottom prettier… P.S.: my top fits the coleco bottom and vice versa - which is a good sign... fieroluke
The cart case is making good progress! I want to make another small change to make the board fit even better. print time is 4:45h for both halves.

digress
I made one too . Took a bunch of iterations to make it work. It's not bad but 3d printing is just too rough still. Functional but the aesthetic is too rough.
fieroluke
Nearing the final version! it looks quite nice, I modified it slightly to give a ceramic EPROM in a precision socket more headroom. The screws are flush now, going to sink 0.2 mm more for better look.
