Favorite space 2600 game

There are a LOT of space games for the 2600 but here are my top 3

 

1-Space invaders

2-Asteroids

3-Gorf?

Back when I was a kid, these were my favorites:

 

Starmaster

Star Voyager

Vanguard

Phoenix

 

I also played a ton of Tac-Scan, Space Attack, and Cosmic Ark. While I like Star Raiders, the extra controller didn't do it for me.

I prefer the space simulator games myself.  My current order of preference is this:

 

4. Star Voyager

3. Star Raiders

2. Starmaster

1. Phaser Patrol

Can't go wrong with these and if your into homebrews, the following would make worthy additions to any ones collection.

 

1. Space Instigators

2. Space Rocks

3. Gorf Arcade - currently a WIP.  Will include all 5 arcade level, speech and more.

By the way, you can't love Space Games and not have a copy of Space Game.  IMO, this is an excellent, challenging shooter and includes great sfx and sprites.

So many excellent space shooters for the 2600, I can't narrow it down to a top 3 so I'm just going to list a few that are both excellent and I haven't noticed they've been mentioned yet.  In no particular order: Beamrider, Solaris, Spacemaster X-7, Moon Patrol, Cross Force, Moonsweeper.  Love, love, love all of these.  Plus a shout out to Draconian, my fave space shooter homebrew.

Perhaps they've all been said by now,...but for me I guess Phaser Patrol, Demon Attack, Nexar, Megamania, Phoenix and Vanguard...Plus Space Rocks, Star Castle Arcade, Space Game, Draconian, and Galagon...

Need to mention the amazing Trak-Ball Series collection.  My top three are:

Star Wars Arcade TB

I really love the 7800 version of Asteroids.
