Any Vectron Players Here?

Hello Guys,

 

Looking for some good tips on playing Vectron. It's a game I just cannot seem to get any better at. ?‍♂️

 

Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. ?

The Intellivisionairies episode where they review Vectron had a lot of detail and strategy I believe.  
 

Thats a game I want to go back and try but the control always throws me off.

The button assignment isn't ideal so it's best to work in one direction.

 

I use different strategies depending on the enemies.  With the first set of enemies (first three levels), I don't worry about the enemies much and focus on building the base.  With the second set, I shoot the enemies first and then quickly build the base.  With the third set, I often kill off all the enemies before building the base, can take some time.  And always get the energy from the epaks.

So with the third set you say you kill off all the enemies first. Do they eventually come back or can you actually get to a point where you can kill them all per screen? I believe they look like blue shimmering diamonds right? ?‍♂️

 

Also I believe you posted 400k+ in the HSC, what level was that and what enemies were there at that level? Must be impossible. Best I ever did was 102k and that game was an anomaly. I think it could have been a decent game if they engineered the controls better and didn't make it so DAMN hard..... ?

Eventually the enemies stop coming, so if you haven't built your base you can do it then, as long as you have enough energy.  The Diamondback levels are actually pretty easy to get through.  The furthest I've gotten is level twelve.  I know there are people here that have gone further.

Oh it's already on the schedule..... Lots of 'CRITTERS' in that game......

I guess I'm a weirdo, but I used to love this game.  I know that your disc needs to be in pretty good shape to play it. You need to have accurate shots into your target (to finish the field fast) and to shoot the enemies.  I think they called them Nasties!!!  If this disc is not in good shape, you'll struggle firing all over the place until you run out of power, or can't move away from an enemy.
