Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here's our invite for Lovebyte 2022

https://demozoo.org/productions/303175/

Join us in a celebration of the smallest with a dedicated sizecoding demoparty / event, held on the weekend of 11-13th february 2022 on Discord and Twitch

We'll be online streaming with oldschool and high-end intro competitions in different size categories ranging from 8 to 512 bytes in size. From our 256 byte graphics and nanogame competitions to bytebeat music competition.

Or what about cool size-coded related seminars to get you started, Bytejam, DJ Sets and many other events?

This is the one event where size does matter! Don't miss it!

Tonight the ultimate compo! Superogue told us it's going to be very good!

21.00 (UTC+1) Competitions: 256 byte intro (Fantasy Console, hi-end, Oldschool)

Probably in that order (fantasy, hi-end, oldschool) as it was yesterday with the 128B compo.

In a little over 2 hours :)

In 15 minutes, the 32B compo starts.

I added all videos to YouTube and linked them on Demozoo. Here's the YT Playlist for your convenience:

Even though More Chessboards scored best, I'm most proud of It's Easy Being Green, because of it being a Realtime 3072 pixels pixel shader with music ;)

Congrats to @ilmenit for successfully defending your title! Murkwood is great!

Post-compo improvements:

https://github.com/ivop/sizecoding/blob/main/lovebyte2022/256B-more-chessboards/post-compo-main.s

Binary of 225 bytes:

https://github.com/ivop/sizecoding/raw/main/lovebyte2022/256B-more-chessboards/post-compo-main.xex

I saved 31 bytes. Now I could have done a true @VinsCool 15kHz snare instead of this "drum" compromise ;)

Yes, but I won't :)  That would change the intro. I just got this idea to make it smaller, and it worked :) Perhaps it can be even smaller, and keep the same effect. It's sort of a tradition for me to make sizecoding entries smaller after I submitted them and the compo is over ;)

Thanks everyone who has watched and participated at the event, it has been a blast!

I've was able to create and release my very first atari 8-bit production:

A 128 byte intro called Interstate 128 - https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=91099

Thanks to @F#READY for helping me aquire and fixup a Atari XE 130 :D and thanks again to everyone who have submitted Atari productions to the party!
