Six-Switch Questions

Recommended Posts

I have the 'opportunity' to get a six-switch Atari in the original box along with a game storage bin and 25 common games like Frogger, Amidar, etc., for $75. Something tells me it's not really worth it, but being as I haven't purchased a boxed system before, much less a six-switch, I figured I'd put it by y'all--perhaps it is a great find and I just don't know what I've stumbled across.

So:

--is it worth it?

--what should I look for beyond condition of the box?

--Is a six-switch Atari the same as a 'heavy sixer' or are there differences?

I think that price is a little high but if the box is in really good shape, all or most of the parts and packing material are included and in good shape, the serial number on the unit matches the serial number on the box (something I like to check up front) and you like collecting complete boxed systems it's probably not a bad deal.

As with anything, A good price is a price you are happy with.

There are two six-switch models--the 'heavy-sixer' and for lack of a better term, the 'light-sixer'. If the console in question is a heavy-sixer and the serial number on the box matches the serial number on the console then that adds to the value and in that case, depending on condition, I think $75 is a fair price, assuming that the original controllers, RF, and PS (Grey) were in included.
