+9640News #1 Posted January 3 I know there was made mention about a limitation of 8 cards in a PEBox for the TI-99/4A, thus one could not make a 10 card PEBox. Now, my question is, can there be an extender card that plugs into the PEBox on a Geneve system that then plugs into another PEBox, thus expanding the number of cards the Geneve can use? I know one has not been presently designed, but is it physically possible to do?
atrax27407 #2 Posted January 3 There is a splitter card for the TI that allows for two P-Boxes to be connected to the console. There was another mod (years ago) that connected a cable to an empty slot in the PEB and allowed for a second PBOX to be "daisy-chained" that would probably work with a Geneve.
+Ksarul #3 Posted January 3 It might not be a bad idea to run the cable daisy-chaining PEBs through a set of buffer chips to keep from overloading bus drivers--that may have timing consequences, however.
atrax27407 #4 Posted January 3 As I recall, the daisy-chain cable arrangement was even sold commercially for a short time.
+9640News #5 Posted January 3 Well, I am not to build such a setup myself, but if someone does, I am interested. Probably wouldn't hurt to have an idea what the price would be before venturing too far. Not sure if @Shift838 PEBox card he is building could be used to daisy chain two PEBoxes together with just 2 cards, and a different cable.
