Gedalya
Given the age of the Jaguar I decided to buy a backup in case my main unit was ever down for maintenance. I was able to get my hands on a Japanese Atari Jaguar and I wanted to share some photos and information.
Gedalya
It's not that often I feel compelled to open a unit to clean it but this is a good example of one that needed a good cleaning. I found though that this unit does not in fact have the TV port on the back far right; it is missing/removed and there is no opening in the case. In one of the pictures you can see what appears to be the outline of the TV Port component, ostensibly removed.
sirlynxalot
Does that mean Japan Jaguars came with the AV cable instead of the RF unit? I'd say I'm jealous except for the fact that it must have been extremely frustrating to find and buy games if you were a Japanese jaguar fan. In fact it appears they just dropped the retail version in the box, see photo:

Gedalya
Here is a photo of the Aliens vs Predator manual; not sure why but they included the same manual we would get stateside with the Japanese manual.
Gedalya
This is the front of the manual for the system. On top of the manual is a piece of paper with info for the store the system was bought at. Note the date, Jan 29th 1995. KidGameR186496
So the Japanese Jaguar had the RF Box out? That's new to me. I did a thread at another forum regarding my search about the Jaguar in Japan: https://hg101.proboards.com/thread/14254/atari-jaguar-japan-myth-reailty
KidGameR186496
But one thing had always stuck in my head since I saw an image of the Japanese Jaguar unit: why bundle AVP instead of Iron Soldier, knowing that Japan love their mecha stuff? phoenixdownita
@Gedalya what is all about? "Good Work ATARI" is that the sentence?

I'll try and scan some of this; the inch binding will be a challenge though. The are really great though; one of them has maps for Wolfenstein and Aliens vs Predator, guides, and even a page with a photo of the Jag Duo.
Zerosquare
They may have been scanned already. For some reason, they are available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/jaguar-Japanese-Jaguar-Standards-Organization-ebook/dp/B08FH8KH64/ 1

+cubanismo
I've gotta wonder how many readers a Japanese Jaguar fanzine would have had. Did it come with the Jaguar unit, or did wherever you got this from just throw it in?

Interestingly, I have family in Japan and had asked them to keep an eye out for one, as my brother goes by game shops off and on; he never did see one. KidGameR186496
I might have to check out the Japanese side of Amazon. I saw them being sold there.
Jagosaurus
I know it wasn't much, but we do we know rough Jag sales figures in Japan?
Boris K.
Around 5.000 were sold in Japan from what I read. Might have not been the final number, but I guess that would not be that much higher. 1
Gedalya
Can anyone recommend a console box protector? I've seen these clear boxes that the console box can go in and now I have two boxed units. I've seen some for sale but I'm hoping to find a recommendation for a vendor. melrocks
Dan from retroprotection.com, or his eBay store have you covered.
Gedalya
Here is a photo of the power adapter for the Japanese Atari Jaguar. This has the same output as the US counterpart; am I mistaken or can I not use the US counterpart in place of this? I'm not sure if the polarity is the same as I'm not sure out to read those symbols. There is a thread here on the AtariAge forums for the Jaguar Power Supply that refers to the output as Center Negative; is that a polarity reference?
