Gregory DG #1 Posted September 6, 2003 Just check any of his auctions... Doesn't the shipping seem to be a bit COMPLETELY outrageous??? High prices shipping.
Lost Monkey #2 Posted September 6, 2003 Do you have a specific example? I looked at 3 different auctions spaced down the page and the all were $3.50 for shipping.. is that outrageous?
ApolloBoy #3 Posted September 6, 2003 I looked at one of his 2600 games. It's $5.75 for shipping. Now that's a ripoff.
sku_u #4 Posted September 6, 2003 he's charging a few extra dollars for shipping, but his BINs are very reasonable. Big Deal.
Ralph3 #5 Posted September 6, 2003 I had 24 boxes Atari 2600 games shipped to me for just over $6.00 media mail. Media mail defidently helps (if you are not in a big rush to get it!)
King Atari #6 Posted September 6, 2003 S/H is outrageous on ebay nowadays, it's just a ploy for the seller to make a few extra bucks. If I don't pay too much for the auction itself though, I generally don't mind (unless it's like $10 s/h for a baseball card).
jetset #7 Posted September 6, 2003 Just check any of his auctions... Doesn't the shipping seem to be a bit COMPLETELY outrageous??? High prices shipping. Definetly. This topic keeps coming up, and fortunately buyers are catching on to this scam. $3.50 is not bad to ship one cart, unless it is sent media mail, which only costs less than a buck. In that case, it definetly is outrageous. Just dont buy from dorks like this one. There are plenty of reputable sellers who don't try to scam their customers with shipping charges. moycon #8 Posted September 6, 2003 All his auction say 3.50 for media mail... What do you people who sell on ebay use to ship your auctions in? I try to get boxes from work...But if I cant or if I'm selling so many things at once, I have to buy boxes for .80 from Target. So if Media mail is 1.20 and you're paying a $1 for a box, plus driving to the PO $3.50 is a tad higher than what it might actually cost the guy I guess but I dunno if its outrageous. Shannon #9 Posted September 6, 2003 I had 24 boxes Atari 2600 games shipped to me for just over $6.00 media mail. Media mail defidently helps (if you are not in a big rush to get it!) Yeah but I've seen some media mail packages get beat up pretty bad? Is it really worth saving a few bucks to take that risk?
King Atari #10 Posted September 6, 2003 Really? I do media mail whenever I can and I've never had a problem. It takes a little longer, but if it saves me money, I'm all for it.
Gregory DG #11 Posted September 6, 2003 All of the individual Atari games I clicked on were $5.75 for shipping. Jeez, a padded envelope costs .89 and the actual postage for first class is less than $1. Here's your example. Do people actually get away with this? If so, maybe I should raise my measely $2 shipping charge to $6!
Lost Monkey #12 Posted September 6, 2003 And again, I see options: IN THE USA: Shipping and handling is $3.50 by media mail or $5.75 by priority mail..IN CANADA: Shipping and handling is $4.75 by airmail..OUTSIDE THE USA & Canada: Please contact me by email for payment and shipping information. I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING FOR WINNERS OF MULTIPLE AUCTIONS The above quote is from the auction text.
jetset #13 Posted September 6, 2003 Do people actually get away with this? Sadly yes. Ebay seems to not care about this type of fee avoidance. Small as it may seem, part of ebays fees are based on the listing and the final price. So, guys like this one overcharge on shipping to make extra $$. There's nothing wrong with charging an extra buck to make up for the cost though. But not $2-$3 or more. There are plenty of legitimate, honest sellers on ebay. Shannon #14 Posted September 7, 2003 Really? I do media mail whenever I can and I've never had a problem. It takes a little longer, but if it saves me money, I'm all for it. I received a few boxed titles media mail just the other month and lets just say they arrived in less then stellar (smashed) condition. The box holding them barely made it thru alive.
