what are you using as a hard drive?

Despite there being better storage solutions i am still in love with physical drives

I think its because i could never afford a hard drive back in the day that i love them so much today

 

Here are my 3 Adams, each with its own physical hard drive setup

 

MFM drive converted to dual IDE physical hard drive

 

Adam drive converted to IDE

 

ZIP 100 IDE

While no one "hd" is maybe better, I do have a variety of hookups.  CF cards, laptop IDE drive, normal IDE drive, MFM drive, Sparq drive, and Zip 100 drive.  All work good, except that the older physical drives (if not booted up frequently) seem to get lazy and won't rev up sometimes unless you give them a bump.

I have the two MicroFox IDE packages:

 

- 60Mb Single CF Card

- 100Mb Dual CF Card

 

i don’t use them much anymore with the advent of the MicroFox VDD and then the ADE as well as large disk image volumes for the ADE. I will eventually keep a second system setup at all times with the Dual CF Card setup. If I need to do something currently, I use the latest version of ADAMem SDL to work with the Hard Drive image files and then will eventually write the updated image files to the CF Card(s).

I would consider anything without moving parts to be better, so the CF Card setup is indeed the best option.

Well Jim, I kinda agree with Henry.  When I first got a physical hd for the ADAM, that was quite the deal.  Physical spinning hd is more in line with the original ADAM timeframe when things were just starting to pop on the 3rd party market.
