Basic Rev C on a chip

Recommended Posts

You don't say what you want to use the IC in. (?)  You can burn it into a commonly available 2764 eprom and then use an 24 to 20 pin adapter.  Or you can still buy the Rev C cartridge from BEST for $20 + shipping (note minimum order may apply).  Or you can put the rom image on a multi cart.  Or use a PILL or similar device.  Or you can put an ad here to buy one from a "parts" computer, although you're much more likely to be able to get a Rev B. But there are a lot of scrap 130XE's out there.

Hi, it looks like people used to sell the 8 bit basic on a chip but it looks like much of that has dried up.  Anyone still have a source for this?

Are you still looking for a genuine Atari Rev C ROM chip?  I have a few I put in the original brown Atari BASIC cartridges that had two 4KB Rev A ROMs.  The old brown BASIC cart is socketed for the two 4KB ROMs, but in Atari's infinite wisdom, an 8KB ROM in the right socket works so I pulled the two 4KB ROMs and replaced the right one with the 8KB 24 pin Rev C ROM.  Works great.  No modifications needed to the cart (i.e. no trace cuts or no added wires), just pop it in.  It's in a socket, so you can just remove it an put it in a 800XL to replace the Rev B.  PM me if you're interested, I could easily sell a few ($30 installed in a brown BASIC cartridge).
