jwse30
I recently picked up a coco3, and naturally, I’ve got to upgrade it. What are my options for RAM, and how likely is it that any of those options will be available at CoCoFest next month? Thanks in advance, J White

brain
2 main options: 512kB 2MB Lots of vintage and new options for 512kB. Less for 2MB, but both should be available at CoCoFEST! Jim
Michael Kline
Ed Snider at https://thezippsterzone.com/ has 8MB RAM for the CoCo 3. You'll need to contact him direct to inquire further. Anything above 512K is usable via OS9/NitrOS9.
MrDave
You can use 2 meg from Basic if you wish
+thanatos
If you just want to play games, 512k should be all you need. The Triad from Cloud9tech is a great product. Runs much cooler than the original upgrades from back in the day.

MrDave
Basic won't automatically use 512 or more but you can use pokes to map in 8k chucks of this ram and store your data and images there.. Like this basic program i wrote..it uses loadm to load a whole disk in ram .. but its controlled from basic.. standard joystk , inkey stuff. Rick Adams put my code on github.. J White I recently installed one in a CoCo3. Works great! Just be aware you have to cut 2 resistors on your PCB for it.

I think they were capacitors, if I remember my upgrade process with an original board 30 something years ago...

Yes, you’re correct. C65 & C66. I thought something was off yesterday when I typed it.
jwse30
Well I picked up an old used 512k upgrade from Cloud 9 for $15 at CoCoFest. If this one doesn’t work out, I’ll order a triad from them. Now I gotta find time to install it J White
