ACML
Best Electronics has an order limit of 1 POKEY, but is that a lifetime limit (only one per address) or is it only one per order?
Trevellion
He has a limited stock, so that will be a lifetime limit. Seems fair that he would do this so that more people have a chance to repair their computers. I purchased a replacement 800XL board from him that came with all chips fitted (including POKEY) so I suppose there are ways to circumvent that limit. +Larry
What did you have to pay for the XL board? Just curious.
ACML
I've always found that the best way (cheapest) to acquire the five VLSI chips (POKEY, ANTIC, SALLY, GTIA and PIA) is to buy a cheap complete machine or a populated motherboard. I recently saw some fully populated 800 cores go for <$50. Considering you get a POKEY, that's a pretty got deal. Also, don't overlook a cheap 5200 on eBay. You get a POKEY, SALLY, ANTIC and GTIA, but no PIA. Those 5200s can sometimes be found at very reasonable prices.
