I managed to learn and study with Hack-O-Matic III to look into hacking the PAL version of Pitfall II Lost Caverns to add the missing details to make the PAL version look very identical to the NTSC version. Work was done was altering the palettes to Pitfall Harry to the same colours from the PAL release of Pitfall!, fixed the tree colours, and adding the rainbow sunset in the sky which the official PAL version release was missing. I'm also doing an unfinished hack of Lost Caverns, but I'm basing it on SEGA's Arcade version, with that Indiana Jones-style character in the hat and jacket. I have always thought that the lack of graphic details in some games in their PAL versions (as well as the initial music of SW-ESB) was attributable (also?) to the number of bytes spent in the program to adapt the image to the greatest number of lines (in practice, all PAL versions are "adaptations" starting from the respective NTSC versions... the greater number of horizontal lines for PAL mean a "shrinkage" of the image compared to NTSC and black bands above and below to "fill" the extra lines .) However, if you have something to "find out" about the arcade version of Sega, I have always been waiting for someone to have the will and the constancy to produce a port for VCS ! I thought I try some hacking of my own to give it a more remastered so it can look identical to the NTSC version. Seriously thank you. Posted the Video gameplay on YouTube using the Stella Emulator as I don't have a Harmony Cart for my hardware yet. I will look into getting one down the track to test it out on real hardware. I think it would be best to start an "unofficial" port from scratch, like Congo Bongo POC, by splendidnut, The challenges of such a port are immense and I don't know if it would be viable for the 2600's sand truck. I don't say impossible, but close to Arcade it would be plausible. And to hack the existing version would be to change a lot and all your programming routines.
