I got an iMac G3. What can I do with it?

Recommended Posts

I got an iMac G3 the other day running OS 9.2 with 128MB of RAM. It boots up fine, although the HDD is very noisy.

I was wondering what I can do with the machine. I've never had a PowerPC computer so I'm not sure what games, emulators, etc. support it.

Thanks!

You can play Duke Nukem 3D! and games of that era. I would replace the drive with an IDE to SD card adapter. Add more ram and enjoy. They are pretty easy to take apart. Just flip it upside down on a towel, undo a few screws and pull out the system board. Fun little machines in their day.

Any 68K or Pre-OS X PowerPC Mac game will run fine on an iMac G3.

Go to Macintosh Garden and have fun!

Didn't know you could play 68k games on it, now I'm going to be playing Tetris all day! :D

Also, what kind of CMOS battery does the machine use? Can it leak?
