Frozone212
I'm having a blast programming the zx81 but the games are limited. What games from the Spectrum should I try?
Matt_B
It depends what you're into. Jetpac, Manic Miner and Chuckie Egg are three relatively straightforward action games that practically everyone still rates. For some deeper gameplay, after a bit of a learning curve, you could try Tau Ceti, Lords of Midnight or Laser Squad. Recent homebrew efforts to push the hardware include Buzzsaw+, Old Tower and Sword of Ianna.
bjonte
I didn’t own a Spectrum but the Paradroid clone Quazatron was done in isomeric 3D and looked interesting to me. I remembered the Star Wars port being much better than the C64 equivalent so I’d recommend having a look at that.
Papalapa
In addition to those already mentioned, Knight Lore, Skool Daze, Abu Simbel Profanation, Chase HQ, Sabre Wulf, Batman, Sir Fred, Army Moves...

Willsy
Cruising on broadway. Really simple. Doesn't really have any graphics. Could do it on a ZX81. Brilliant game.
jltursan
The ZX Spectrum has some great arcade ports: Green Beret or Ghost'n'Goblins (yep, really) to mention a couple of them... Edited June 1, 2022 by jltursan typo
