Just a heads up that the "Not for Resale" version has a different difficulty to the other versions and should likely be excluded from use in this round.  In the Rev A and Rev D versions, from level 16 onward (including the bonus Donkey Kong level), enemies and the red fireball move faster every 7 levels.  This ramp up in red fireball speed does NOT occur with the "Not for Resale" version.

Also, seeing as the original Red Cart physical release is essentially the same as the "Not for Resale" version then this should also likely be excluded as well.

Oh - just realised that the ROM provided in the first post is the Red Cart ROM from 2009, which is essentially the same as the "Not for Resale" ROM.  And I believe this is the only version of the ROM that has been made freely available and so I guess this has to be the base version used for the competition.  With that in mind it doesn't matter what version anyone plays, although if any of us gets to level 16 then best to be playing with the provided ROM (or the AtariMax "Not for Resale" ROM) and not the more difficult Rev A and Rev D ROMs.

Ramble over.

Oh jeez, I didn't realize my pick would have so much controversy haha. I will note that I had to read the manual to find out to press 5 in order to add credits and actually start the game. Thought this would be a fun follow-up to DK Jr. I love it on the NES, and it plays pretty nicely here too.

It's a great game choice.  One I sadly haven't played much of to date so this is a great reason to really spend some time with it.

This version plays pretty well (tho I'm sure I'd be horrible on original hardware). Made it to 75k for another bonus point, but the next point is a leap. I'm sure there will be some insane scores to compete with here this week.

This is one of my two player go-to's on NES. That's where it really shines. It's fun for one player, but with two, you can work together or start fighting each other mid game; it can get really funny.

Having lots of fun learning this game.  I really like the way new enemies and hazards are introduced as you progress at a well balanced pace.  Only got 7 credits left so don't have a lot of games left to improve with until my money runs out ?

998,840 pts.  Quickly hit the print screen button at the start of this level to capture the score before rollover.  This late in the game, you're still getting extra lives at what appears to be every 10k points.  Got my iPhone out and zoomed in to take a pic when the score rolled over.  You see the first digit appears to be a pipe after the rollover.

Having problems with my media card reader so can't get the photo off my camera at the moment.

This particular game I experienced the Donkey Kong level which caught me by surprise.  Does anyone know what triggers this?

I think it shows up for the first time on phase 16 or so, and then shows up after every bonus level from that point on.
