RCmodeler #1 Posted September 13, 2003 I was just looking at a bunch of "VGA adapters" to connect [email protected]/Box/Cube to your computer monitor? Are these things really worthwhile? It seems to me that my 27" TV with Component cable already produces monitor-quality picture... that should be good enough.
JagMX #2 Posted September 13, 2003 i wouldnt say yes al lthe time, but i wouldnt say no either - playing Starlancer for the DC on my monitor was damn sweet
liveinabin #3 Posted September 13, 2003 You might get a better picture but NOTHING beats sitting there in front of a BIG TV, it's what consoles were designed for.
GrizzLee #4 Posted September 13, 2003 Save your money. I have yet to see a Video-to-VGA adapter that is better than my Sony Wega (no it's not High Defintion) and S-Video. The Dreamcast is the only exception to this. Use the DC VGA adpater. It can't be beat. -Lee
cryptik76 #5 Posted September 13, 2003 I have a VGA adapter, which I use for my NES, PS1, and Dreamcast. Although it saves me the space of having a TV in the computer room, the picture isn't great. It certainly doesn't look as good as it does on our TV, but part of that may be that regular TV's don't show the jagged lines as much as a computer monitor does (due to the lower resolution). Plus, most people tend to sit closer to a computer monitor than a TV.
Sharky #6 Posted September 14, 2003 Im not certain about this... If the current TV your using is digital then theres no need to hook this up to your PC Monitor. But for my TV, Anything above 640x480 is will flicker like crazy and difficult to read. But still nothing beats console Gaming on a huge TV than a small PC monitor which probably give you crystal sharp images.
JB #7 Posted September 14, 2003 A VGA adapter is ONLY worth it for systems actually capable of VGA out. That's the Dreamcast and (though not a well-known feature) PS2. Furthermore, it's still worthless if you don't get somethign that actually takes the system's VGA signals as oppsed to an upscan converter. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...products_id=82& A Dreamcast VGA box... http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...oducts_id=2361& The legendary PS2 VGA Box(US version). Tragically sold out.
