Ecernosoft
Hi! So I'm not really tech savy. I'm more of a 6502 coder. I'm smart with a few systems: The atari 2600, 5200/XL/XE, and the 7800. I have written several simple programs but I was wondering if there was a 5200 adapter we could make (Well, not we, because I'm not a hardware guy =/) that would plug into the 7800's controller port so we 7800 and 2600 owners could experience the previous (or next) generation of Atari! This would eliminate the need for a 5200, but the 5200 is GIANT! I own an atari 7800. I also own a 2600. Sadly, my mom didn't keep hers and the 2600 is rebuilt, but the 7800 came stock. (Mine has the expansion port) If you guys have a 5200 adapter for 7800 or 2600, I will absolutley buy one!

john_q_atari
The 2600, 5200, and 7800 are all different machines. The 7800 can play 2600 because inside it is basically 2 machines built into 1. The 2600 adapter for the 5200 is a complete 2600 that plugs into the 5200 and the 5200 port has a video passthrough that is used. The 7800 doesn't have this. What you want can't be built. It would be a standalone 5200.

The OP never asked about a 7800 adapter for a 5200, though that is an interesting curiosity.
