Dolt #1 Posted September 17, 2003 OK, so I heard this mix CD, "Peanut Butter Wolf's Jukebox 45s," in a store the other day and it had this hysterical pseudo 1970s funk jam called "My 2600" by Captain Funkaho on it. Naturally I had to pick it up if only for the Barry White voice at the beginning rumbling "yeaaaaah....plug that sh-t in!" If two songs count as a collection, then I guess I'm collecting songs about Atari, because I also have "Atari 2600" by Splitsville which I wrote about in the 2600 Connection a few years ago. Over the last few years, on and off, I've tried to track down other label-released songs that were Atari-related, but have pretty much come up empty-handed. For instance, I found and listened to "Atari Track & Field / New Controller Conspiracy" by Atom & His Package, and while it was funny, it had nothing to do with Atari other than the title. So, does anyone know of any other songs specifically about Atari? A song like "Pac Man Fever" doesn't count in this case, nor do (admittedly interesting) sonic experiments in making music with an Atari 2600. If you know of a song, let me know! Godzilla #4 Posted September 17, 2003 yea thats it. I bought that LP on vinyl a month or two ago at a antique shop cause of the cool transformer robot, the fact that a track had atari in the title, and the fact that one of the band members was wearing atari and MSX clothing. lol. +Random Terrain #6 Posted September 17, 2003 I think Weird Al did a song about Atari 2600 also. I didn't know that. I'd like to hear it. Do you know what album it might be on?
Godzilla #7 Posted September 17, 2003 I think Weird Al did a song about Atari 2600 also. I didn't know that. I'd like to hear it. Do you know what album it might be on? I own every released Weird Al album, and there is no 'Atari' song on them. Of course he does have some non album songs like 'still bill joel to me' and the cafeteria song and stuff so its possible. maybe thinking of pacman fever by buckner & garcia??? scrummy #9 Posted September 18, 2003 Some of the best recent music was around 1998, with Alex Empire and "Atari Teenage Riot" Their self titled full length album has a track titled Atari Teenage Riot. ex. ....and anyway, I think that's part of the reason the next step will be,,,an ATARI TEENAGE RIOT..reason for those who can buy it, power for those who can fxxx it, television today.... The VLM goes absolutely tripfuct with this album, also meet the band in Atlanta around 1998, Alex thinks of Atari as starting the moderne revolution, LIFE---to----AI and beyond, similar to Sputnik in theme, a bit faster, btw, sputnik is still working on new stuff.. Check them out on the web.
