Kirby meets "Lololo and Lalala" in Avalanche

Inspired by a recent thread here, I've taken a shine to my copy of Kirby's Avalanche once again. Always preferred Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, but now it's Kirby whose got me puzzlin..

 

Anyway, one of the opponents - on the 5th or 6th level is Lololo and Lalala and Kirby makes a pun about them being "aMAZEing" during a cut scene. Who are these two? Is it Lolo from The Adventures of Lolo or something? That's not a Nintendo brand game or anything, so what's happening? Or are they Kirby universe characters that I don't rememeber?

Lololo and Lalala were also in the original Gameboy Kirby game- Lolo happens to be a Hal Labs creation. Same as Kirby.

The Adventures of Lolo games were indeed made by Hal, who did the Kirby games... I'm not sure of their relation to Nintendo, but for what it's worth, Hal was behind the whole Smash Brothers series.

 

In Adventures of Lolo, the main character's name is Lolo, and Lala is his kidnapped girlfriend... I'm not sure why they extended the names for the Kirby games though. Perhaps the original Japanese game was actually "Adventures of Lololo"?

it was just Hal's way of introducing Kirby fans to the older Lolo games. and it worked. this is fact because that's what happened to me.

Since we're on the topic of Kirby, anyone think Squek Squad is worth buying? I've been thinking my fiancee might like it (she loves Princess Peach and New Super Mario Bros).
