Odd wires - looks like a mod

Recommended Posts

OK spot the new TT owner :) (well TT motherboard anyway :) )

I have noticed a couple of wires which look to be added by the previous owner. These wires are deffo not factory fit by the way they are not soldered onto the chip at the end and mearly hooked on! (I have pulled one off by mistake which stops the machine doing anything!).

Any idea what these could be.. one wire runs from a cut resitor near the CPU to a 74AC244 chip near the crystal next to the 68882 MPU. The other wire runs from the 74AC244 to a leg of a resitor near that same crystal.

According to the data sheet I have downloaded the 74AC244 is an "Octal Buffer/Line driver with 3 state outputs".

any ideas what has been done.. my guess would be a speed boost as the crystal is involved.
