BTW: @Tebe: Loading of color palettes in G2F would be a nice enhancement.

For God sake... NO :-o

The pallette is the most accurate to the XL series. On the XE ony one colour isnt that correct, but that is a problem of the different machines. Actually I don't know, why Fandal uses the fully "off" pallette...

free changing of pallettes ends in chaotic results....

Hmm.. IMHO a darkened 'real.pal' of A800 matches best with my machines (and I think there are more XLs outside than XEs), but I have to admit that the wish for loadable color palettes is tagged for me with

the lowest priority of all my wishes (and as Tebe know, there are many of them... ;) ).

I agree that I also do not understand why Fandal is using the most obscure palette available for A800 - maybe his real hardware puts out this colors - as we all know, there is a potentiometer inside the machine where the colors can be adjusted. It could be true that he slipped out while touching this gadget... ;)

For the record, most of the screenshots on our site are very, very close to what's produced on my PAL system. Very similar to Fandal's as well it seems.

You can take every screenshot of the G2F archive, add some PAL errors in, make it a bit darker, and you see what the PAL XL is displaying for real!

The "standard" pallette of th A800win has fully wrong colours, as it shows "red" that is never real on the A8, it shows colour crossovers and some colours have only 4 luminances.

Overall, it looks like someone used his TV set without a balanced colour setting ;)

Last time, i use pallette from Laoo/NewGeneration.

This pallette is good IMHO.Try it.

laoo.zip

WOW :-o

The pallette seems to be almost 100% XL compliant:

Very good. Now the real XL feeling is available for the A800WinP4.

But, I think it is better to still have the "old" pallette in G2F, because it is "somehow" a balanced piece for creating visuable pictures for either XL and XE computers.

oh...so many years without emkay's game... ;) just kidding...

Very funny

OK... I should have explained that the characters with gr. 8/15 interleave now show the correct brightness/colour relation as it does on the real thing.

And the gold in the "tut" picture is now correct aswell.

The real.act palette was made using the unmodified Atari 800XE and a PC TV card for output. All the systems use PAL standard. It is a bit too bright because of the adjustments of the TV card's player software, but overall it is very faithful and with some adjustments using the A800WinPL controls the excess brightness can be removed.

Good job!

Just two remarks:

* In your distribution my QE2 & Tribute to Thyness images seem to be corrupted. Don't

ask me why. Please check.

* It seems there is still some kind of glitch in the char management:

* Load QE2 image and switch through the options in the given order:

Options:

* Standard

* Optimizing

* Original -> when this is finally selected the image will be corrupted!?!

Recently I use Graph2fnt like a tool for create giant sprites images. But I feel there are 2 simple but useful add-ons:

- A selected image area can be moved pixel by pixel (with arrows + SHIFT)

- A selected image area can flip horizontal and vertical in mirror mode.

- In screen char mode, where you point a char, shows like a hint the Internal number code.

Best Regards

Mario

Picture made by Gonzo. Many other pictures made by him you can find on Atari.online.pl

Hi,

Lots of great new pictures on the gallery - but a request, can the Tebe 'Simpsons' pictures be moved off the Gallery page? I'm not a prude but each time I go to that page they stand out and I just don't feel them appropriate in a 'shop window' for the program.

No offence meant to Tebe BTW, his art is great!

Regards,

Mark

:lust: Great stuff! Really nice to see more great g2f work.. I only wish I had more time right now myself to work on some more too... and to finish a bunch of complicated ones which I was only partially way through with.. what ever happened to spare time :( ... I'm moving house in the spring and have a room planned dedicated for my Atari and Commodore gear which I have had no room to set up for many years. I have some rare uneen develpment stuff for the A8 which I really need to archive and to post disk images of here on the forum so watch this space. Take care all, Tezz.
