SteveW #1 Posted October 4, 2003 I just got one today that came with Sonic in it. I've noticed it doesn't have a backlight. Is that the way it was made, or is my backlight bulb burnt out or something? And what games are good for it? And one more question; I know that there was some connection with the Dreamcast, kind of like the GC and GBA. What games work that way and what kind of cable would I need? chrisbid #2 Posted October 4, 2003 no backlight, but the screen is easier to see than the gbc or the original gba i think the only two games that take advantage of the DC/NGPC cable are king of fighters and snk vs capcom
SteveW #3 Posted October 4, 2003 I thought Sonic was supposed to have some special stuff unlocked when you plugged in the NGPC Sonic. I remember hearing that and really thinking hard about buying the NGPC because of it's DC connection.
cryptik76 #4 Posted October 4, 2003 I heard the same thing about Sonic; not sure if it's true though. It appears that the NGPC/DC cable is hard to come by...
Major Havoc 2049 #5 Posted October 4, 2003 NGPC has some great games. I don't have that many games but I love Metal Slug 1 & 2, Samurai Showdown 2 and SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millinium. I also enjoy the submarine combat RPG, Dive Alert. Most people don't like Dive Alert though, because of the slow pace. If you like fighting games, almost all of them are good. SteveW #6 Posted October 8, 2003 I went to an EBX today and they were selling new NGPCs! Some company bought out SNK's recalled stock and repackaged them. They had the NGPC with 4 carts (one was Metal Slug) for something like $79 and a 6-pack of games for $39.99. They have no boxes, they just come in blister packs. I wish Metal Slug didn't come with the console. I'd much rather be able to pick it up with the 6-pack.

Cupcakus #8 Posted October 9, 2003 I have all of the US releases my local GameStop ever had when it was out... (Even both Dive Alerts) :-) I really like the little toy. I wish more games were released for it.. but you can't have it all :-)
Scooterb23 #9 Posted October 9, 2003 The only thing that makes me mad about the way these games are packaged is that NEO Turf Masters...THE GAME I MOST WANT, was only packaged with the system...so I bought the 4-pack of games to drown my sorrow... SteveW #11 Posted October 9, 2003 Yep, Electronics Boutique. Although the one I went to was an EBX, hopefully they should be in most EBs. They didn't have them out, though. They were inside their behind the counter glass cases. Not only did the sales guy know about the NGPC, he knew about nearly every console ever made. He was telling me about how he finally tracked down a Sylvania branded Intellivision. We talked a little Atari 7800 and Jaguar talk, and he really liked my Astrosmash shirt I bought from IntellivisionLives.com. It was just a shock to see someone working in a game store that knows about all game consoles instead of just the current generation. We even talked about Atari Age! Wow. Knowledgable sales staff. Too bad Radio Shack can't hire some. "How much is this $1.99 package of batteries?" "Hold on, let me get the manager."
