DeV0 #1 Posted October 4, 2003 I got hold of a red label missile command today. Anyone know how uncommon this is? I love the red label releases. No idea if this is Ntsc or Pal
SS #2 Posted October 4, 2003 Picture please! This may be a previously unknown variation. At least it’s not in the Red Label section of the Guide. http://www.atariage.com/label_page.html?LabelID=
sku_u #3 Posted October 4, 2003 I got hold of a red label missile command today. Anyone know how uncommon this is? I love the red label releases. No idea if this is Ntsc or Pal Hey there, I'm willing to bet that it is PAL given where you are. There is not as much information out there about PAL releases because there are a lot less international collectors than there are US/Canadian collectors so it's very possible that Red Label Missile Command was overlooked. Did you check the Giant Listy in the archives to see if it is listed there?
DeV0 #4 Posted October 5, 2003 Where is the giant listy? I found 1 image online at http://www.atariguide.com/1/133b.htm Doesnt really explain much about it but at least there is an image. My cart is in much better condition. You would be surprised as to how many NTSC carts and discs for all systems turn up here.
atarianer2003 #5 Posted October 5, 2003 No idea if this is Ntsc or Pal Imho on the most red pal-releases there's an "P" behind the cart number (like CX2694P on the "Pole Position") Mike
SS #6 Posted October 5, 2003 I found 1 image online at http://www.atariguide.com/1/133b.htmDoesnt really explain much about it but at least there is an image. My cart is in much better condition. That's a kinda strange looking cart, with the non-standard font and the text surrounded by the black border. It almost looks like a pirate release. I wonder if there's anyway to tell for sure whether it's "official" or not?
sku_u #7 Posted October 5, 2003 Where is the giant listy? http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/labe...variations.html The Giant List was compiled a while back by a few diligent colectors in an attempt to archive all label variations out there, both major and minor. They list Missile Command red label.
Room 34 #8 Posted October 5, 2003 That's a kinda strange looking cart, with the non-standard font and the text surrounded by the black border. It almost looks like a pirate release. I wonder if there's anyway to tell for sure whether it's "official" or not? Nah... a lot of the red labels -- especially the PAL ones -- had font and design inconsistencies like this. I doubt it's a pirate. But I expect it would be PAL. Then again, it's true that it would probably have a P after the model number... CX2638P.
as_the_gavel_falls #9 Posted October 6, 2003 I had one and can verify it is pal and has no "P" after the model number, I think there is a P in a box on a sticker on the back.
ATARIPITBULL #10 Posted October 6, 2003 So then would a Red label edition of say Realsports Volleyball in a red box, be a pal game?
as_the_gavel_falls #11 Posted October 6, 2003 I'm talking about the scan on my website, it was of a pal cart, and had no P after the model number. I updated the description to reflect this: http://www.atariguide.com/1/133b.htm
atarianer2003 #12 Posted October 6, 2003 I had one and can verify it is pal and has no "P" after the model number, I think there is a P in a box on a sticker on the back. That's the other variation But I've also one without any "CX" model no., there's only CA4000226-135 (it's the RS Boxing cart) and has no PAL-specification Mike
Spirantho #13 Posted October 6, 2003 Ironically within a few hours of reading this thread I went through a lot of manuals I got on eBay (which I bought because it had Atari BMX Airmaster instructions), I noticed I had the red-label Missile Command instructions too. Cool huh? Never even knew it existed. Now I just need to get the game... Incidentally, the red label instructions were all in the correct language for the country, i.e. my German Xenophobe instructions are *all* in German. The same way, my Atari BMX manual is all in English - so is this the same as the American NTSC instructions?
Cybertom #14 Posted October 6, 2003 Hi there everyone, i really don't think that this is a pirate - i've seen some red label variations the last times that are quite uncommon. (but only because lack of popularity). I mean who of us is just looking in an auction that says - space invaders complete in Box ?? But if you look at it it may be the rare silver Box version (which i personally think it's the rarest of the SPIV releases but not many people even know that it exists). It's just a matter of patience to find a red label game which is quite common but not spreaded around on ebay i think. greetings Tom
