Warning! Do not do business with retro_city on ebay!!!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up on this ebay con artist. Not only did greatly overcharge on shipping, but also failed to ship anything at all! He also does not respond to emails! He also had the nerve to call me a Paypal scam artist! Here is my feedback: http://cgi2.ebay.ca/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...ck&userid=zs969

And here is his: http://cgi2.ebay.ca/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...erid=retro_city

If you like your money, stay far away from him!

I understand you've been burned and are upset. Not to really defend the seller, and please don't flame me, but have you considered the following?:

1. Email may not actually reach the intended recipient for a variety of unexplained reasons.

2. Items do occasionally get lost in the mail (just recently happened to me :( )

3. The sellers shipping charges were clearly stated in the auction (whether they are reasonable or not is another debate that I do not want to get into).

It has happened to a couple people I work with; they had spam filters active on their Email accounts and some mail would get through, some didn't. One lady who works where I do was really PO'd when she missed a Parent-Teacher conference because the filter didn't allow the school's Email thru but did a bunch of porno stuff.

So all I'm saying is I agree with your statement; what with the spam filters being put on the lines by the companies themselves (AOL, Earthlink, etc) its possible that some important stuff could not be getting through.

Yes it was my fault agreeing to pay for such shipping, I should have known. However what really got me was HIM calling ME a scam artist. Also, the number provided in his paypal account is a fake.

Here is the email correspondence I am having with another of retro_city 's customers:

To member: zs969

From member: escstuff

--------------------

Hi,

I see you left negative feedback for a seller named "retro_city" . I also have been having a hard time with this seller, i sent him $35 us dollars for an auction and after I sent him an email about it not being shipped, he stopped responding to my messages. Did this guy rip you off as well? I am going to leave him negative feedback in a few days if he does not respond.

and

I also sent a complaint with Paypal, but since I paid more than 30 days ago they won't do anything. They however took note of the complaint. Did you try calling him? I have his phone number but I have not called him yet, waiting for him to respond via email. Since I know he responded to the negative feedback, I am sure he received my messages.

Hey I had NO CLUE you were a member here LOL! That was my email to you!

This guy scammed me too. He is not using filters...he responded to my INITIAL email about not receiving the 7800 and now is ignoring me. Stringing me along saying "it was shipped, i'll send you a tracking number as my partner shipped it." I paid for insurance so if it was lost by the Post Office then I would accept that.

I have complained to Paypal, and eBay but they wont do anything (except take "note" of the complaint)

I wonder what the Ottawa Police will do if we both file a mail fraud charge?? We're both from Canada, and I know one other person who says he got ripped (not sure if he is in Canada)

Ok , after about 10 emails, phone calls etc. this guy does not respond to ANY of my correspondence. So, last resort, I leave negative feedback on eBay.

Complaint : No proof of shipment, no email response, no phone response, paid $35.50 PAYPAL

1 day later...a response to the negative feedback on eBay -- BUT STILL NO EMAIL RESPONSE DIRECTLY FROM HIM.

Response by retro_city - we ship all items day after payment thru Canda Post some things do get lost!!!

WOW! This guy only replies to Negative feedback on eBay! Things DO GET LOST...yeah..thats why I paid for INSURANCE ! Yet he can't come up with any address he shipped the item to, nor a tracking number or any proof at all he shipped it!

STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM THIS GUY. I'd feel better if the guy ripped me off and just packed up and left eBay...but because he THINKS he can continue to rip people off as he desires makes me want to continue this dispute.

so far this guy has ripped off 3 people (including me)

so....Does anyone have a cheap 7800 for sale here? no games required as I've been collecting them for the past two months waiting for my "vapour 7800" to arrive.

I have had problems with mail from Canada myself. I generally will not buy from outside the US due to this (no offense Canadians!!). One suggestion would be to use PayPal with a credit card, not from your checking account. Generally you are protected by your credit card company if you do not receive the item. I always use American Express and they are excellent when it comes to fraud claims. They credit your account and investigate.

I ALWAYS glance over my bulk mail box. Every day there are only about 10 to skim over. That is better than having one of my buyers on ebay being pissed off and me not knowing it. I take pride in my 100% feedback.

Luckily I was able to settle my dispute with retro city. Paypal awarded me a refund after I filed a buyer complaint investigation.

Ok, "Retro_City" lists more stuff on eBay. Since he wouldn't respond to any of my emails, or the "Ask the Seller" link in the auction I won. I decided to BID on one of his current auctions. I then sent him an email asking if he had received any of my messages (he did, because he responded to the SquareTrade message) and here was his response :

>Did you get my emails concerning the Canada Post insurance claim?

>

no what is that about??

Either he is a real idiot and doesn't remember who I am, or he thinks he can get away with what he has done.

I'm going to retract my bid of course. :-)

You say "retro_city", huh? Who started his activity on March the 28th, right? This makes me think of my old friend :x "retro-leisure", who was banned from eBay almost one year ago:

By the way, could any of you ever have a neg feedback removed, in case the poster was officially proved to be a thief (banned, in this case)?
