Shenmue 2

Any shenmue fans out there? I just finished the remake of 2 on the xbox and loved it. I am a bit disappointed it was so short and am know begging for 3. Does anyone know if this is in the works?? I know ppl have discussed shenmue before but really i want to know if im in a minority or whether others really enjoed this.

I love Shenmue and played both episodes on the DC. Since I've never finished it, I was thinking about getting the XBox version. Do you think it's woth it? Does it come with some goodies compared to the DC edition?

I'm not buying any more Shenmue's until Yu Suzuki says for certain how many there will be. Another £40 to run around from one port to another won't be good enough again.

Nice concept, but it's getting a little bit lost.

I loved Shenmue and Shenmue II. An adventure game wrapped around tons of Sega history, and featuring incredibe amounts of detail. My kids like to play darts and try for winning cans, too. And buy different capsule toys. I also enjoyed this aspect for quite a while. I will never forget Shenmue's 70 man battle, or Shen II's exciting QTE's, its many great fights, and the end of disk 3 or the epilog on disk 4. (Dreamcast).

 

I will probably play Shenmue and Shenmue II through in their entirety every year.

 

But I don't expect we will ever get a Shenmue III. It's over, IMHO.

The way they ended Shenmue 2 is questionable, as opposed to the nice ending in Shenmue I.

 

I do not think sales of Xbox Shenmue will warrant a Shenmue 3, unless Sony releases it.

Didn't know it was started... but I'm surprised you don't have the proto!

yea ive got some video of the proto somewhere. looked absolutely awesome, for the saturn. from what I've heard there was no real game to the saturn proto, just a basic display engine with a character running around some environments.

There is a shenmue 3 in development for the xbox.

 

If I recall, there's only 3-4 games that are to be in the series. So this may be the last chapter.

 

I heard somewhere the saturn proto got up to 70% complete.

After the way Shenmue II ended there better be a third or I'll start one of my ranting letter campaigns (I've never actually started a ranting letter campaign but you get the idea)

 

We had Shenmue for the DC for a long time before I finally broke it out and played it. I played it non-stop for days, the same with II. My favorite pary was taking care of the kitty in 1

I dont think the Xbox version has anything extra, It does have the advantage of no disc swap and quicker loading times. I have the DC version and graphically they look pretty much the same.

 

Good to see ppl like this game and the way shenmue 2 finished there just has to be a 3! I can honestly say that the only other game ive finished with the "i want more" feeling was GTA 3.

Shenmue II has the Sega Saturn Shenmue film on it. It might unlock after you beat the game, I can't remember. It's pretty awesome looking given the Saturn's older architecture; but I'm glad it was made for Dreamcast!

 

I will say again that I, a longtime Sega fan(atic), no have little hope of seeing Shenmue III. There is no interest in the market except on internet gaming forums (which are a tiny percentage of sales) and Sega knows it. I hope I am wrong of course -- part II's ending has me waiting with baited (coffee?) breath for a 3rd game in the series.

I agree it looks amazing for a Saturn game! And it looks like it contained both episodes too..

Seems pretty advanced as well!

You get to take pictures of people and events, and if you take so many of the right people, you unlock a present, which is some Shenmue cartoons.

I said this once before, but I'm eager to find out more about about Lishao Tao's brother.  Can hardly wait for Shemune III.

Shenmue III Last Update 09/01/03

   

  In a recent interview Yu Suzuki the creator / director / father of shenmue said that he would like to make shenmue 3 a movie such as the one given away with shenmue 2 for the xbox rather that a game like the previous 2 incarnations, this has enraged many die hard fans of the series who were expecting the upcoming title to be played not watched, watch this space !!!

Interesting fact about Shenmue II. It is actually the most imported game in history. Who'd have thought a PAL game would be the most imported game? PAL countries ususally spend £$£$£ importing NTSC stuff.

 

Are Sega making a Shenmue 3? Shenmue was an AWESOME game, but it did really hit Sega financially and II didn't help (even on Xbox).

Of course, I totally forgot about that feature. Id like to see some saturn pics or a mov file somewhere. I wonder how far into completion this game was? I bought my DC from Japan and the VF4 disc that came with it had an extra disc all about shenmue. It is however in japanese so i have no idea what it says.

Well I love playing the games and I would be sad if the next one was just a movie, but if it's a choice between nothing or a movie, I'll take the movie.

 

Oh and I agree with Nozomi, she was so sweet. Too bad he was so consumed by his need for revenge. I kept waiting for his obsession to have a negative impact on the story. Maybe it does, maybe that's why Lan Di keeps getting away from him.

 

(Also I secretly hope he does not kill Lan Di, but rather saves him, and maybe Lan Di can save him right back, sappy I know, but I'm a girl, what can you expect )

Ya, Shemmue II for the Xbox is a two disc package. Shenmue II on one disc and Shenmue: The Movie, that was released in Japan on the other disc.

 

Another extra for the Xbox version is that the cut scenes are in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound....very cool.
