Ghostbusters II NTSC - who will preorder it ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I´m about to produce the NTSC version of this game (and Acid Drop and My Golf) as soon as I get the PCBs.

Since I have only 30 boxes and manuals I ask if it would be a good idea to create entirely new boxes. This is expensive and I must order at least 100 , so the question is - are there 130 or more buyers for an NTSC Ghostbusters 2 for about $25/game?

There are enough My Golf boxes and I doubt that many buyers are interested in Acid Drop,so the 30 copies should be enough.

BTW : Still need a good high-quality label.I made some 300dpi scans of this game and need a label fitting on a standard ATARI Super Breakout cartridge and an end-label.

Same for Acid Drop and My Golf.

Wow. You are going to undertake this task?

But what is that going to do for PAL Ghostbusters 2 carts? Would they drop in value if you released a NTSC version?

I's be more interested a CIB Salu version in PAL format, but this is a great project. I'm sure you'll have some interest.

The first buyers will get the SALU PAL PLUS the NTSC cart. But there are only 30 originals left and all newly produced Ghostbusters 2 copies will be NTSC only.

My Golf will be HES white label PAL + NTSC version , too and Acid Drop SALU PAL cart + NTSC cart.

That means buyers get 2 carts , PAL and NTSC.

I wonder if Thomas's name is going to be on the label.  :ponder:

If someone can design a label with his name on it that looks good?

He will get some money for each cart sold.

I'd happily buy it minus the box, actually.

Yes, this is a good idea, too.A version - box (the instructions are very cheap , made with a laserprinter) would be cheaper , at least $5.

BTW. I use 100% new Super Breakout picture label carts for this project. This is an ultra-common game and I have lots of it.

So these carts will look really new.

I made one at one time for myself but I guess you would need permission to use it by several people. :(

You mean like this ?  :D

Nice label, but I wonder if the Ghostbusters copyright owners might complain. Maybe we should organize this less prominent?

Ghostbusters would be owned by Sony, they may well have an interest in protecting that trademark. So might the actors pictured. An illustrated label might afford a bity more protection.

If we really want to get tricky it can be given a fake name and label. It says Siegfried's Zoo Keeper but actrually contains Anteater. Whatever works. This may be the way we get away with this sort of thing in the future.

I think nobody will complain if I sell original Ghostbusters 2 games with an added NTSC version with a new label.

If this is a big problem because it´s a movie game, I may just use the white label the PAL version has. This label was made with a laser printer, there a 2 different versions : SALU cart with ROM and TELEGAMES cart with EPROM.

But I´m in Germany, nobody complains about old ATARI games and I only sell them outside of Europe and it´s just a label for an original game that has a plain white label.

Good that My Golf and Acid Drop will and Forest and the Bitcorp games won´t cause these problems.

For a reasonable price I'd want one or both. I had an 8 Euro bid on a copy of GBII that got sniped at the last second by a fellow AtariAger (whose name starts with a G...)

I'd be interested in Acid Drop.. I mean, I'm sure the game sucks, but I'd love to have a box with that name on it in my collection :)

If the price is right, I'd probably want a NTSC one to go along with my PAL version.

I have no problem getting a game without a box. I don't buy games just to resell them, I buy them to play them. A box is nice from a collector's point of view, but i'm more interested in the game itself. As long as there's a xerox of the instruction manual so I can figure out what the game's about.

Ok , the original instructions of Ghostbusters 2 are in 3 languages - English, French, German. They are nothing special, just standard laser-printer - made SALU instructions.

BTW. Ghostbusters 2 seems to be the same game on all the systems - it´s the same game as on the AMIGA/ATARI ST ,C64 or other systems.

Speaking of the copyright problem :

Does anyone need a picture label of this game or would it be ok to use the white-label label as on the SALU carts ?

Or maybe a picture label with just a screenshot, not the actors?

Another idea is : Sell it with white label, so nobody complains, since there is no Ghostbusters logo, no actors, nothing.

But offer a nice label for download , so anyone interested can dowload it and remove the white label.

P.S. : I still need labels for ACID DROP , My Golf and the 8 BitCorp games and Forest for the NTSC versions.

If someone can design them, please email me.I´ll pay for this.

and this is PAL Ghostbusters 2

There are 2 differend carts , one is the SALU cart , the other is the EPROM cart. The EPROM version seems to have a bug, the title music does not

play correctly.

This is Acid Drop :

I would also be very interested in getting an NTSC Ghostbusters II. Is there an "official" sign up list somewhere?
