vanman #1 Posted October 13, 2003 What is the best classic pro wrestling game? I would say ProWrestling for NES or WWF King of the ring for NES. What is the best?
MegaManFan #2 Posted October 13, 2003 Experience has taught me most "classic" wrestling games stink. Terribly gameplay, poor move execution, ridiculously unrealistic graphics. Truthfully I don't think any wrestling games were even decent until Nintendo 64 came along, but I suppose at least on the SNES and Genesis there were a few +tolerable+ games, such as home ports of Wrestlemania the Arcade Game. Brad2600 #3 Posted October 13, 2003 Saturday Night SlamMasters was awesome for the Genny. More of an arcade game though. No referee. A bit too repetitive.
vanman #4 Posted October 13, 2003 How about best modern game as well?

Gregory DG #6 Posted October 13, 2003 About the only one I ever liked was the aforementioned Pro Wrestling for the NES. God, I rolled on the floor everytime that green dude munched on his opponents head!
chrisbid #7 Posted October 13, 2003 NES Pro Wrestling was pretty good, all of the offcial games lacked in the fun department the fire pro series from Japan gets a lot of rave reviews, but ive only played the GBA version, and i didnt get into much to like or dislike it one of my favorite 3D wrestling games is Giant Gram, an import on the Dreamcast. A couple of American wrestlers are in this (Vader and another i cant think of), and Wolf Hawkfield from Virtua Fighter are in this game.
Scooterb23 #8 Posted October 13, 2003 EPYX Championship Wrestling for the Commodore 64...still about the only wrestling game I've ever liked
oesii #9 Posted October 13, 2003 My favorite was the arcade game, Mat Mania. The 7800 port was terrible but a great port exists for the Sharp X68000 computer. Great page about Mat Mania (known as Exciting hour in Japan) http://zeroes.overclocked.org/exciting.htm

MegaManFan #11 Posted October 13, 2003 I just picked up No Mercy at a Toys'R'Us that hadn't liquidated their N64 stock yet for $15, but I haven't played it. If you approve though I'm looking forward to it.

Xot #13 Posted October 13, 2003 I was always a big fan of Konami's The Main Event. Never ported to any home system that I know of.
Brad2600 #14 Posted October 14, 2003 Never even heard of it. I'm also a fan of the arcade WWF games as they looked much better than their console counterparts. Is there a way to play them using a MAME emulator? I haven't downloaded one yet.

Is there a way to play them using a MAME emulator? I haven't downloaded one yet. Absolutely. Works best if you've got a joystick of some sort 'cause many of them are very difficlut to play with a keyboard and multiplayer on a keyboard is an exercise in futility. I'm suprised you don't have MAME yet. Definately worth your download time!!!
