Nintendo Penguin #1 Posted October 13, 2003 Cannot confirm this, but the seller claims it is a NES test unit. Decide for yourself. Here is the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3052072404

Nintendo Penguin #4 Posted October 13, 2003 Actually the Third Generation Toaster and the Top Loader do not play unlicensed games. (So I am told) At the same time, I have more than on NES that doe snot play any games... licensed or not.
sebastius #5 Posted October 13, 2003 Well, i personally think that this is just a regular NES with the security chip disabled. It may be a first gen NES without security chip. But it sure as **** aint an official test system, even if the NOA stamp is in it.
video game addict #6 Posted October 13, 2003 Security chips were in Gennies, not NES decks. The Original NES has a territory lockout chip, PAL games do not work on it. There is a mod were you clip a few legs off a chip, and it will allow pal games to play, assuming your tv can run them, some still don't work right. But I've never found a NES that wouldn't play an unlicensed cart! The Top loader did away with the territory lockout chip, cost savings deal, and thus allows ALL games to be played on it. I have tested tons of unlicensed nes carts on my top loaders when I was still into nes, never a problem.
