birdie3
Does anyone know of any sites that review Atari 8 bit games?
+davidcalgary29
"The Atari Times" has a few A8 reviews, but the selection is still rather sparse. I'd say, offhand, that http://www.atarihq.com/ has the most 8-bit reviews, but these are restricted largely to older titles.
Callipygous
Excellent coverage at http://oldclassics.narod.ru/atari/atarib.html Only one line and a rating for each game but very large number of games at covered and available for download. ZylonBane
A few more reviews are here:http://www.zhell.co.uk/xlgames.html I don't think I should trust someone who rates Star Wars higher than Star Raiders, Cybermorph higher than Battlemorph, and calls 2600 Pac-Man, "undeniably good". Don't forget Zylon, there's also a fine C+ Star Raiders review under the 5200 section here www.videogamecritic.net He's starting to review the 8bit games under the Atari XEGS section. C+ for "Spy vs. Spy"? C'mon, now.

While I don't agree with his Star Raiders review, I was one of those kids who never got into Spy vs. Spy (short attention span ) I like the great majority of the VGC's reviews because we have a lot of the same tastes in games, action and sports with very few RPG's even considered. Cybergoth is always giving him a hard time over the lack of RPG's and other genres but it suits me fine
Callipygous
I see that everyone's definition of a good review is one which they agree with. Nothing like having an open mind, I always say.
Gregory DG
"The Atari Times" has a few A8 reviews, but the selection is still rather sparse. This is true. There are just too many good 8-bit games out there though! I really need to get that 8-bit list up...

You're right even though they might be my favorite reviews that doesn't necessarily make them good reviews Because I have like 20 different systems, I use reviews to find fun games that I want to play so I prefer reviewers who have the same tastes as me for the most part. Nukey Shay
LOL It is a bit slow, but Pesco’s at least as good as Atari’s Pac-Man game. Pretty hard on old Pesco there.
AEX
Hi Guys, I took a handful of my favourite A8 games and put them here with some comments. There are obviously many more "favourites" in the A8 library, but these stood out at the time... I like quick samplers like this too because there's always one or two games I've never heard of or have completely forgot. Elektra Glide is one of those
intvgene
I am not an expert writer or web programmer, but I've been working on some Atari 8-bit reviews for my page. I'd love to have some input (constructive criticism) on them. I am also not on a permanent server yet, so if you get a timeout, just try again later. http://www.intellivision.ca/8bit_reviews.html

Atari Smeghead
I'd love to have some input (constructive criticism) on them. http://www.intellivision.ca/8bit_reviews.html I agree with David. It's a nicely put together review section. The only thing that didn't appear to work was the graphics for the "review" rating. It showed as little red Xs. What was it supposed to be? I like the presentation. I like the multiple pics of the games, and I especially like the cool little running man at the bottom (I have a picture of him on the back of my CGE 2003 shirt!) and the menagerie of characters at the top. That must've taken some time to put together. In fact, all of the review sections listed here were put together quite well and are most helpful. I have a good collection of 8bit games (as we all most likely do) but it's always nice to be reminded of games we've forgotten or shown games we never had. I had forgotten that I always wanted Mail Order Monsters, for instance. It's nice to have more fodder for my AtariMax carts!
intvgene
Those red X's weren't supposed to be there. I was seeing them because they were referenced to my local drive, and didn't notice it. Anyway, should be fixed now. I will keep adding more reviews, usually one or two a day. I don't know when I'll stop, but I doubt I'll do the entire library. Thanks again. birdie3
These are all great suggestions. Thank you to every one!! As a player who is relatively new to the Atari 8 bit scene, I can definately say that these types of sites are quite useful in helping me decide what I will persue in terms of a library. Hopefully prices and availability wont change too much when the Atari Age 8 Bit Rarity Guide hits.
Megamaniac
....Hopefully prices and availability wont change too much when the Atari Age 8 Bit Rarity Guide hits. I assumed this was a joke since the smiley face is here. Does anyone know if there are plans to do a rarity guide for 8 bits too? If it were limited to cartridges, which it would almost certainly have to, I'd still find it useful. Still, I doubt there is as much demonad for this as the 2600! I had trouble locating this link... http://www.execpc.com/~krieg/links/8bit.carts If you haven't found this already, this is Andrew Krieg's 8 bit cartridge list, which includes a rarity guide. It's a great resource. Here's his home page: http://www.execpc.com/~krieg/VidGames.htm This dude's got nearly every old system ever created! It's freakin' amazing! Hope this helps!
