Mr.FoodMonster #1 Posted October 15, 2003 Megaman X7 comes out tomarrow, and I fully intend on picking this one up, and im sure Megamanfan is as well (you have a ps2, right?) I dont think I can forgive them to switching to 3d, but it IS on rails, so it shouldnt change the gameplay that much from the originals. I have a half day of school tommarow, so right after school im going to pick this up and play it for quite awhile, and write a little review for it. Bratwurst #2 Posted October 15, 2003 I read (from a devout Mega Man fanatic) that it was pretty stinky. Judging from how sorry X5 and X6 were I can believe it, I won't be touching this one. Capcom hasn't given the X or original series much care lately and it shows.
ubersaurus #3 Posted October 15, 2003 I rather liked X5, although I haven't played X6. X5 had sweet robot master names in the states, and some good songs. Plus True Zero was a badass boss. That said, X7 looks like crap. YOU HAVE TO UNLOCK X! When I heard that I just decided that capcom is insane.
MegaManFan #4 Posted October 15, 2003 I'm going to give it a chance, like I do all Mega Man branded games, but ultimately I have the sneaking suspicion I'll spend a lot more time playing MM Zero 2 when it gets an "official" release.
Mr.FoodMonster #5 Posted October 15, 2003 you dont have to unlock anything other then the secret armors. i liked all of the x's and the originals, so im pretty sure i will like this one. ok, well i got out of skool today, got someone who was willing to take me there, first stop Media Play. I walk in there, look on the ps2 rack, after 3 times of looking over the whole thing i get a salesperson and ask if they have it 'If it came out today its still in back in a box.' me, looking around seeing 3 other employees ask 'can you bring one out for me, and scan it in then out?' 'no.' thanks, jackass stop 2 Best Buy. at this point im thinking 'yeah it is only 12, but they should have everything out before they open' i go in there, look at the racks, and nothing. track down one of the 2 people working in there, and ask 'do you have megaman x7 for ps2?' 'are you sure its out?' no, i have no clue, btw where can i get my copy of Half Life 2? 'yes, it came out today' 'oh, well its still in back if thats the case, it will be out here tomarrow or later today, probably later' stop 3 Electronics Boutique. i am pissed, plain and simple. I walk straight to the counter not even bothering to look 'you have megaman x7?' 'not out here, i havnt gotten to that box yet. do you want (insert some lame GC game here) insted? its (throws down 15 line ad for said game)' 'no thanks' as i walk out. I see 2 n-gages, look at one and the crappy interface and decide to not even bother trying it. the worst part is i cant get a ride back out there. my sister just wont, its my dads b-day and my mom is sick. lucky lucky me i need some caffiene... chrisbid #6 Posted October 15, 2003 thats what happens when you pay employees shit, they could care less if they make a sale or not.
Mr.FoodMonster #7 Posted October 16, 2003 well i did get a ride, and i went to every store, but one (EB - I KNOW they had it, they just closed 10 minutes to early ) and i dont want to make a list of all the stops. Im calling EB during school tomarrow to reserve one, and getting someone to take me and pick it up. god this is far to complicated...
Mr.FoodMonster #8 Posted October 16, 2003 GameStop is my savior Got it today, and all I can say is YEAHH!! I am TOTALY feeling the 3d gameplay, it was done VERY well and when the camera is in the normal position it seems just like good ol' megaman goodness. Of corse I would have rather had 2d, but thats alright. First off, X actually ISNT playable (yeah, I was wrong before, sue me) he is 'Sick of fighting and wants to make a peaceful solution!' Because they ALWAYS work! Axl isnt a bad charater, its a nice little addition to the cast. Zero is as great as ever, with his saber. Soundtrack is just like the others as well, not to dissapoint. The only bad thing I have to say is that there are FAR to many people you can rescue on each level, each room usaly has atleast one to 'save'. I played a few of the levels, not all, and have not beaten any bosses as of now. My prelimanry rating is 6/8 (dont ask me about the 'Out of 8' rating scale, its just how I rate everything =P) Once I have a good few hours in I will get back to ya! ubersaurus #9 Posted October 17, 2003 Why isn't one of the bosses called Chimpanaids? Or Sarsalamander
Invader_dag #10 Posted October 17, 2003 watch yo mouth! X5 is one of the best MM games of late! at least in my opinion. I thought the gameplay was good, and really, you can`t screw up a MM game as long as the gameplay is the same(or close to it) as the previous games. Anyone that's been a fan for awhile is used to getting crappy plots and swiss cheese story lines.
KaineMaxwell #11 Posted October 18, 2003 I'm getting X4 today..how's it compare to X5-X7?
MegaManFan #12 Posted October 18, 2003 I haven't taken X7 out of the shrinkwrap yet (hectic work week) but X4 is clearly superior to X5 or X6. As I've said all along it's probably the best of the X series, sans the first one on SNES. Great music, great levels, great graphics, and even the silly sounding English dub of the Japanese anime cut scenes has charm.
KaineMaxwell #13 Posted October 18, 2003 Thanks guys! Gonna pick X4 up later likely then play for the afternoon (and figure where things are who to beat first, etc).
MegaManFan #14 Posted October 18, 2003 If you need tips on gameplay, I recommend mmhp.net - it's very comprehensive.
Mr.FoodMonster #15 Posted October 18, 2003 This time you can pick if you want English or Japanese voices during the cut scenes, and I picked the latter, I couldnt STAND the other horrible acting. I will never forget the classic Resident Evil vioce over 'Jill! Dont open that door!' ahhh
MegaManFan #16 Posted October 18, 2003 When given a choice, I always choose Japanese. It's the only way I'll even consider playing Soul Calibur II. When I hear a demo console at EB in English it always ticks me off.
KaineMaxwell #17 Posted October 18, 2003 This game rocks!!
KaineMaxwell #18 Posted October 19, 2003 Now I'm stuck... Fighting Colenal before I can move on to the last 4 Mavericks without a way to refill my Sub-tanks...
MegaManFan #19 Posted October 20, 2003 I haven't had a lot of time to devote to it so far, but I would at least put it in the "not sucking" category. In fact I hate to say it but it definitely pukes all over MM Battle Network on Cube.
