Gregory DG #1 Posted October 16, 2003 There's something fishy going on... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051567512 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051568268 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051570463 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051571276 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051582012 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051584369 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3051584805
Mindfield #2 Posted October 16, 2003 Each auction is for only one of those carts. He's just using one pic for each of the auctions. Of course, the prices some of those are going for is pretty silly -- but that's what you get when you eBay. If it isn't sellers over-valuating their items, it's bidders overestimating their worth. It's hard to catch a good deal on eBay these days -- but still possible. :-)
x6d696168 #3 Posted October 16, 2003 I noticed a similar auction the other day, it was for a lot of games, and the same seller had another auction, selling the same games, and used the same picture.. some of the games were rare so I thought it was kind of fishy.. Mr.FoodMonster #4 Posted October 16, 2003 i understand, he dosnt want to sit and take 194 pictures of atari carts, (s)he would rather take 10 or so and they are displying both labels, whats to complain about?
Christophero Sly #5 Posted October 16, 2003 I noticed a similar auction the other day, it was for a lot of games, and the same seller had another auction, selling the same games, and used the same picture.. some of the games were rare so I thought it was kind of fishy.. Saw the same thing today with a couple of King Kongs. And whats up with the run of recent auctions where the seller states "Too many cartridges (or manuals) to list", and they don't even include a photo? Who would bid on that? CPUWIZ #6 Posted October 16, 2003 Who would bid on that? I would.
video game addict #7 Posted October 16, 2003 Atari grab bag lots!! Random carts in each bag +could+ include, Quadrun, River Patrol, Cubicolor, Elis, Mangia, Swordquest: WW.... Most likely includes, Combat, Pac-Man, ET, Asteroids, Vangard...
Christophero Sly #8 Posted October 16, 2003 Well, yes, I investigate those "mystery" auctions. This is the auction I'm refering to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...3&category=3528 The listing initially struck me as being a little too slick and manipulative, possessing a "bait-and-switch" quality. There is no photo, and this statement seemed...odd. "More games will be added to this lot as I find them. Expect at least 25 Atari game cartridges but more will be included as I find them." I admit that I evaluated this listing very quickly the first time. After further investigation, it appears that my first impression was overly critical. His other auctions seem fine. And for a high-volume seller, his feedback is respectable.
CPUWIZ #9 Posted October 16, 2003 Here is a good one to add to the list. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...0&category=3528
cvga #10 Posted October 17, 2003 Hey, that Asteroids is in at least excellent condition. If you don't believe it, just read the description!
