Recommended Posts

Hmm maybe I should raid my wife's collection :ponder:

I don't think my ex-wife was in the Black Market Beanie Trade..but then again, I didn't know she was having an affair either!

Ain't that the truth. (Gets in car to pick up a 6 and head over to the Home Depot)

If you look at the bid history, 2 of the bidders including the high bidder are NARU. Perhaps one of them was his ex-wife! :D I doubt he actually got paid for that auction. :|

He left positive feedback to the high bidder. :)

Checking the feedback of the highbidder indicates he did pay for the auction. Awesome listing. His response to the crazy lady that emailed him about them being fakes is great.

The way she outright accuses him instead of inquiring for more pictures or something is amazing. Then he puts her letter in the auction. LOL laugh.gif

I feel for this guy. My wife has a bunch of beanies she does not really want and I had her seperate them so that if we wanted to sell them we could.

But after some thought I decided I did not want to deal with any wacked out collectors. Even toyed with the idea of posting a disclaimer saying that I'd be willing to answer questions, but ultimately everything was being sold as is. Mainly cause I did not want to get caught up in all the silliness. I was also concerned about dead beat bidders, scammers screwing up my account by claiming they never received it, etc.

Wish I could find a way to sell these things off. We don't want much more than they are worth when bought in a store ($3-$6). But I figured it was not worth the headache. :ponder:

Oh well.

I suppose it is ironic or hypocritical for people in a community where it's not uncommon to spend hundreds of dollars on a little hunk of plastic and silicon (for a crap game like Waterworld) to comment on the pointlessness of collecting Beanie Babies... but I agree!

This auction was pretty funny. I really laughed at "I don't think my ex-wife was in the Black Market Beanie Trade..but then again, I didn't know she was having an affair either." And of course the stuff he added later when morons started sending him emails was just plain hilarious!

I know people in the classic gaming community take authenticity of protos and other rare valuables pretty seriously... but it still doesn't seem like we have the kind of mad fervor of BB collectors.

I recently helped my parents sell about 2000 beanies (don't ask :) ) and we ended up selling the majority of them to a dealer for about $1-2 each. The commons don't go for much more than that on ebay, and we only had to deal with one person. Type "we buy beanie babies" in Google and take your pick.
