SONY 3.5" Floppy Drive for ATARI ST/e

Hi guys,

 

I saw this item on eBay and it says the drive in the ST/e can be replaced with an HD drive. Just wanted to ask anyone who has upgraded to an HD drive if this works or if there are any issues with it.

what for a STE do you have?

 

Mega STE: The older one has the WD1772 Floppycontroller onboard - it must been replaced by the Atari AJAX Floppycontroller (understands DD / HD / ED). The newer model (Built 1992 and later) has it onboard.

 

By 1040 STE and 520 STE the CPU-clock-rate must be upgraded from 8 to 10 MHz (minimum for HD-drived). Anyone here knows, how to make it?
