Just curious: did you ever see/read the original comics? They were much darker and these turtles actually look more like those. I kind of like the new cartoon. I've gone to the trouble to download 4 of the episodes, and they're not bad at all. Give it a chance, you old fart! (j/k)

Playing TMNT 1/2/3 on the NES, and TMNT 4 on the SNES, those were the days.

 

I would normally agree with Jasoco, except I needs to gets me some new Turtles! As long as it plays okay, I'll forgive the new turtles (but it won't be easy!).

Unless the new games have an option like Turtles in Time had. The one that draws the Turtles without Pupils, except to put thm back in, it might be fine. But I don't like the way it's presented. I don't like the new logo design. I don't like how they talk now. In short, it's been Millenimized and I hate the new Millenium.

I downloaded the demo for the PC... It's okay, but very monotonous, much like the original arcade game. They would be smart to cut down those LOOOOOOOONG levels where you are just whacking bad guys over and over.

Gamespot review gives it 6.5, if it's anything as exciting as the NES TMNT, then it will probably be very monotonous. I'll get it anyway, but I think I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin.

 

BTW, for anyone that has to have it now, I saw it at Target yesterday for $39.99 GC or $27.88 GBA.

It has to be "Hip-hop and cool" now to make it in the biz now-a-days. I HATE THAT! It has a stink. A horrible horrible stench of the new Millenium. If you don't understand, stop thinking about it. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, of course, but I think it's inaccurate to say the TMNT have been "millenimized" when they are truer to their original forms NOW than they were when they were "popular." You don't have to like them either way, but they're haven't been "updated," they went back to their roots, to a certain degree.

Well, Duh. The point is, in MY day, the Turtles cartoons and games HAD PUPILS IN THE EYES.

your extreamly lucky that you've never seen it. it wasn't that long ago either.

The movies where cool but suffered from the Batman syndrome and got

increasingly more stupid. If there was a 4th movie it would have sucked bad

because the 3rd movie was borderline.

Yes, there was a Saturday Morning show that was done in the same style as the movies - LIVE ACTION. And there was a fifth, female turtle called Venus, I think. Yes, it sucked.

 

If you're looking for the TMNT you remember you want "TMNT Adventures" as opposed to just TMNT. At least in the comic world.

 

They also had the origins backwards in the Advntures comics and the cartoon, IIRC. The movies had it right. Splinter is not, as the Adventures comics claimed, a human mutated to be more like a rat. He's a rat mutated to be more like a human.

 

In Adventures, Splinter *is* Hamato Yoshi. In the original comics and the movies, Splinter is Yoshi's pet.

... Here we go. She had her mask tied in a freakin' braid. Dear GOD, I forgot how stupid this show was. It was called Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation.

 

I remember this piss-poor attempt at reviving the franchise. They weren't teenages any more, so they were just Ninja Turtles, and their mutations were advancing as they grew older so each had some sort of stupid special power that showed up more or less at random; kind of like a Hulk effect.
