RCmodeler #1 Posted October 31, 2003 I'm almost done with FF7 (second time around), and I've uncovered everyone's back story. Except Vincent. What's the deal with this guy? He was sleeping in a coffin, and he has the ability to turn into strange monsters. But what is his story?
The Eidolon #2 Posted October 31, 2003 If you get his ultimate weapon and final limit break, a little more information will be revealed. Keep him in your party when you fight the end of disc 2 boss and he will also have a few comments. GameFAQs has some good guides as to how to get the limit break if you haven't found where to go. --The Eidolon
RCmodeler #3 Posted November 1, 2003 I'm curious, but not curious enough to waste several days leveling up and getting his ultimate weapon. I'll just ignore him.
MegaManFan #4 Posted November 1, 2003 If memory serves me, Vincent was a Shin-Ra goon who agreed to take part in some of their mako experiments, only the side effects made him into a creature of the night, a vampire minus all the blood-sucking nastiness. His limit breaks are hella fun.
StanJr #5 Posted November 1, 2003 You don't have to level him up to find out anything. In Disc 2, take the submarine up to where you get the Key to the Ancients, but go south through an underwater cave. You will end up in a small area, surface. You will surface in a secluded pool. To the North you will see a cave. Get out of the sub, put Vincent in your party, and go into the cave. There you will meet Lucrecia and all will be explained. (You can go back in Disc 3 and pick up his Ultimate Weapon and Limit Break4 in the same place, but no more story will be revealed). He's pretty cool, but TOTALLY optional. MegaManFan #6 Posted November 2, 2003 I found a FF7 character database last night and realized just how poor my memory of his story was. Basically he had the hots for Lucretia, but she didn't like him, and he was being "honorable" in keeping his respectful distance until Hojo was forcing her to have a Jenova child. In the end while trying to stop Hojo he became his unwitting prisoner and was experimented on, giving him his supernatural abilities and vampire-like appearance. RCmodeler #7 Posted November 2, 2003 I uncovered Vincent's story on gamefaqs.com. Not a very interesting character... even less so than Yuffie. He's like that big yeti creature in FF6: two-dimensional, undeveloped character.
The Eidolon #8 Posted November 3, 2003 I love the Yeti! Especially when he gets the item that lets him throw your other characters as an attack. Not much of a story, but who cares? As for Vincent, well, he's one of myv faqvorites, but certainly not necessary to the plot. Since all the characters are nearly interchangeable, I always liked the ones with all ranged attacks. With the mega-all materia, they can finish off groups of monsters faster because they do full damage to the back rank. --The Eidolon
RCmodeler #9 Posted November 3, 2003 I love the Yeti! Especially when he gets the item that lets him throw your other characters as an attack. Really? How much damage does a "character throw" cause? Does it kill the character? I always thought Khimari's explode attack was cool. Not too useful, but if you want to quickly finish a battle, his ~5000 point self-sacrifice can be handy. The Eidolon #10 Posted November 3, 2003 Doesn't hurt the thrown character at all--it's just a silly effect. Did a few thousand points damage, I don't remember any more. He seems to have a pretty good rate of attacks, but you can't control him or equip most items--he just does his thing. --The Eidolon (edit typo)
Classic Pac #11 Posted November 3, 2003 Vincent is like Yuffie is like that short movie of how Cloud arrived in Midgar. Its all totally optional you just have to go looking for to find it. Lucky for me I still have my strategy guide.
Raijin Z #12 Posted November 3, 2003 (You can go back in Disc 3 and pick up his Ultimate Weapon and Limit Break4 in the same place, but no more story will be revealed). Dude, you can just pop disc 3 in after leaving the cave the first time you go there, and get that shit without playing ANY of disc 3 yet.
