JagWarlord #1 Posted November 11, 2003 These are my goals in life 1st goal: Every consumer Atari Jaguar game brand-new and sealed. 2nd goal: Every Sega Saturn game w/ case and instructions 3rd goal: Every Virtual Boy game boxed w/inst. 4th goal: Every Dreamcast game w/ case and inst. What are your collecting goals?

NE146 #3 Posted November 11, 2003 To play some REALLY FUN games that put me in the zone. (a rarity these days)
Nintendo Penguin #4 Posted November 11, 2003 Here are my goalsL Every NES (cart only is fine and I am only gonna worry about Licensed games) Every GameCube Game purchased Brand new. I am now in the 90s... everygame has been purchased by me and purchased new.
liveinabin #5 Posted November 11, 2003 Every GameCube Game purchased Brand new. I am now in the 90s... everygame has been purchased by me and purchased new. Bloody Hell! That must be costing you a shitload of money. Doesn't it bug you having to shell out good money for crap like Universal Studios just for 'the collection'? Jasoco #6 Posted November 11, 2003 Give us pictures, Penguin. First goal, same as Penguin, every NES game. Loose is fine, if I get a boxed one, I want the loose one too. Licensed first, unlicensed if it's cheap. Especially the Tengen ones. I'd get both versions. Certain games I may want to get complete. Stack-Up and Miracle come to mind. I'll take cart only first and go for the complete set later. Along with that, Genesis. Then all the Sega CD and 32X games. That shouldn't take TOO long. Maybe the rarer ones will wait longer, but having only relatively few to get won't be too hard. Dreamcast as well. A short lifespan makes it easy too. I'll get what I can reasonably afford first. Then work for the more expensive rarities. Then I can start on the SNES and maybe Master System. The SMS I'd really rather get boxed. I have 8 games right now. Two are boxed but 6 have no boxes and there is no name on the end label. I hate cartridges like that. It is so damn hard to stack and find the right game. Makes you wonder what the fuck the company thought when they designed that cart. Stuff like that, I may just get some cheap knock-off cases to keep them and make home made labels just to find what I want. Once my general goals are met, complete or not, I'll move on to other obscure systems. Maybe Jaguar and Saturn completions. After that, maybe I'll work my way back through the Atari collection. 7800, 5200, 2600... Maybe not. 7800 at least. For now, I'm only after NES/SMS on. Ze_ro #7 Posted November 12, 2003 Gotta catch 'em all. Actually, collecting every game is completely unrealistic... Here's a quick list of the stuff I really want to get before I'd be satisfied with my collection: A NeoGeo with a respectable amount of games (Especially Samurai Showdown II and Metal Slug) [*]A TurboGrafx-16 (Or better, a TurboDuo) with a respectable amount of games (Especially the Bonk games) [*]A respectable (ideally complete) Vectrex collection... I already have a Vectrex, but I only have Hyper Chase at the moment. [*]Complete collections for Jaguar, Lynx, and 32X. [*]A small list of games for various systems... I won't bore you with the list, but it's about a dozen games for each of the SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Gameboy, 2600, and NES (Speaking of which, I'd really like to get a top-loader eventually). Those goals ought to keep me busy for quite a few years.... By then I'll probably have added some new "objectives" to the list. --Zero
Nintendo Penguin #8 Posted November 12, 2003 I will try to get some pictures up for you all later tonight. I need to wait for my sister to get home so I can borrow her camera. As for the costs... it isn't as bad as you might think. Fry's Electronics always has lots of new games for between $15 and $20 and anything that is $50 is a good title that I was going to buy anyway, so I figure what the hay. I probably spend about $50.00 a week on video games. (average) Figure a gamecube game or two at Fry's, and then a couple of NES games at Gamestop. Anyway, I will get some pics of my GameCube Collection up ASAP.
MegaManFan #9 Posted November 12, 2003 I already met several of mine: * Every SMS game ever released in the US (all but one are boxed). * Every Atari 7800 game ever made (meaning the Monitor Cart and HSC aren't included) * Every Atari 5200 game ever "produced" (meaning original era, homebrew, and reproductions) My current goal, albiet a somewhat ridiculous one, is to have one working copy of every US NES game. Only slightly less ridiculous would be to get every Hu-Card for the TG-16. Maybe someday I'll land a TurboDuo with a working CD drive and work on the disc-based games too. Jasoco #10 Posted November 12, 2003 My current, probably most realistic goal is to get all 6 Sega CD/32X games. But some aren't on eBay currently, so I'll have to look harder elsewhere. I won the CD/32X Corpse Killer today which means I have only 5 more to go. There are a couple Fahrenheit's on eBay, but only one ends soon cheaply, but is CD only. Two others end in 4 and 5 days, but will be more by the end. Wirehead doesn't seem to be up there in 32X form and other copies are only in Lot auctions. Scottie Pippen only seems to be on eBay PC CD-ROM form. No Sega CD/32X. There are only a few Night Trap's, but they're the CD only. Not 32X. and those ones bring in a bit more than the rest. And Supreme Warrior is there now, but there's only one and it's 4 days away and wasn't there the other day. Only shows up once in a while.
RCmodeler #11 Posted November 12, 2003 To keep the good games (Asteroid, Space Invaders, etc) and sell the junk (SwordQuest, Beat'Em and Eat'Em, etc).
christianscott27 #12 Posted November 12, 2003 i'm going for everything, every game on every console from the channel F on up. of course thats somewhat unrealistic but thats part of the appeal. i've hit the 70% mark on most "classic" systems, that seems to be the wall, now additions come slowly (i depend on finds in the wild and trades only). i've warmed up to a lot of latter day systems that in the begining had no collecting appeal for me, such as the saturn and 3-DO, in due time i may begin seriously persuing the playstation titles. i am a bit hesitant about the playstation collection, already most of the PS games i find in the wild are too damaged for collectible use, carts at least offered a near indestructible format. i dont really have any exact goals, just the broad plan to keep expanding my collection as long as i enjoy doing so. for me the hunt is half the fun so i imagine i'll always be chasing something. Atarinvader #13 Posted November 12, 2003 Just to get a complete PAL DC collection. I have all the major rarities now (REZ, Samba de Amigo etc etc) except a few, which can be found on eBay cheapily. I'm 50% there (100+) but it's just painful to fork out money for crappy sports titles. And, a complete 2600 Parker Bros., missing about 4...
joeybastard #14 Posted November 12, 2003 To play and have fun. If I get a complete collection, fine, if not, that's fine too.
Room 34 #15 Posted November 12, 2003 In general, I collect mainly loose carts. I do like to get boxes and manuals too, but I don't go out of my way to get a "complete" game. My first goal was to get all of the Atari 2600 carts made by Atari pre-silver label, i.e. all of the games featured in their "cartoon" catalogs and the "red cover" catalogs. I succeeded. My second goal was to get all of the first year number label carts (the 9 carts like "01 combat", "02 air-sea battle", etc.). It took a while to get Blackjack, of all games, and my Basic Math has a semi-broken dust cover, but I succeeded at this goal too. My third goal was to get all six major label variations of Space Invaders. I thought I had completed this goal when I got a NIB sealed red label S.I., but then I opened it and discovered a 1987 silver label cart inside! So, this goal remains unfulfilled. My next goals? Get all Activision and Imagic titles for 2600. I'm about 2/3 of the way there. I've mostly moved on from 2600 carts though, since it is getting to the point where it takes too much time and/or money to expand my collection any further. Now I'm focusing on getting as many 5200 and NES carts as I can get. My collections for both are quite small now (17 carts for 5200 and 14 for NES) so it's easy to grow... Godzilla #16 Posted November 12, 2003 my no 1 goal is, id like have every normal release us pre-crash game title for all systems, 2600 first. I dont have a complete collection for any of the pre-crash systems, except for the odyssey 1 & 2. its funny how, without really trying, I've done a lot better on the modern systems (but of course the fact that I had a $5 a week allowance back in the day is a big factor, vs salary now.) :-) for modern stuff, complete jag collection, all complete in box (including all the post death stuff,) complete 32x collection, ditto complete virtual boy collection, ditto missing one or two titles from a complete sega cd collection (radical rex def. missing, may still be missing space ace, cant remember,) (edit: and of course my complete dreamcast collection, pictures posted in here earlier.) tiggerthehun #17 Posted November 12, 2003 Scottie Pippen only seems to be on eBay PC CD-ROM form. No Sega CD/32X. I wish I would have known someone was looking for this title. I saw one at a garage sale for a buck last month. I only took note of it, because, being from Chicago, we like our Pippen...
Ze_ro #18 Posted November 12, 2003 i am a bit hesitant about the playstation collection, already most of the PS games i find in the wild are too damaged for collectible use, carts at least offered a near indestructible format. I'm not looking forward to the days when CD based systems become classic. At least cartridges with crayon writing on them still work... I guess SegaCD and TurboGrafx CD games are classic already, and those stupid oversized jewel cases break so damn easily already --Zero
+kisrael #19 Posted November 12, 2003 Finding a tank game as good as BattleTanx: Global Assault but for the current generation of systems... That said, my only collecting goals are to find the most fun multiplayer games. And get organized enough to get more gaming parties going to play them. Godzilla #20 Posted November 12, 2003 just get dreamcast Wild Metal :-) AWESOME tank game, with a great 'scorched earth in 3d meets a real-time action game' type feel to it.
+kisrael #21 Posted November 12, 2003 just get dreamcast Wild Metal :-) AWESOME tank game, with a great 'scorched earth in 3d meets a real-time action game' type feel to it. Actually I think I have that game. Had one or two pretty fun deathmatches. Maybe I just got mad 'cause I was only doing so-so...but I think it was a faster paced game, not too too tanklike, kind of like Thundertanks...
MarkM2112 #22 Posted November 12, 2003 My goals are pretty much to get every game for every genre I enjoy to play for my various systems. This would be as follows: All RPG's All Puzzle games All Strategy games All classic arcade games Anything beyond that would be on a case by case basis, but usually, the best representative title of each remaining genre for each console... (The best Baseball game, the best shooter, the best adventure, etc...) Beyond that, anything that is really really really inexpensive...

Raijin Z #25 Posted November 13, 2003 Hmm... Really, to get every system... but unrealistically... #1 goal: To get a working Famicom Disk System #2 goal: To get a Sega Neptune Both are possible, but require a metric fuckload of money I don't have.
