A Near Disaster...

Recommended Posts

Old School vs. New School

A boy was playing his Nintendo 64 late one Wednesday night in the month of November...A smile ran across his face as he watched the Jet Skiier in gracefully flip and handstand on his craft...

The boy heard a sound come from his computer...It was a message, instantly sent over the wires connected to its rear...The boy thought "Ah, wires, how they help this world..."...

But, the boy knew not what was to happen...For in his love for wires, these wires, much like the lives of his peers, became tangled. And when the boy walked to the computer, he heard a sound behind him. He looked, and saw that the wire that was on his green Nintendo 64 controller had intertwined itself with an audiovisual cable from his DVD player...He saw it tip off of the shelf, with his beloved Atari 2600 sitting atop, oblivious to the fate that lay 4 feet below...

A face looked up from four feet below, with a distressed look...it was Sir Dudley Dashly, on a Jungle Hunt cartridge...

He, along with 31 other friends, looked up and watched the DVD Player and VCS fall toward them...3 of their friends, Venture, Outlaw, and Atlantis coming down with them, waving at them....Then, contact.

SMASH! Both DVD Player and 2600 hit the box of cartridges. They then slammed into each other, then fell to the ground, VCS on its back, DVD player hung by its own wires, cartridges scattered...

The Nintendo 64 laughed, knowing it had crushed its two major foes, leaving only it and its younger brother NES, sitting there...smiling on the shelves....alone.

Luckily, neither was hurt...I immediately tested my games, 2600, and DVD player...All worked perfectly...May not be a Big Sexy, but my black 2600 still has some armor to it apparently...Actually, the big guy would have probably dented my floor...

The only noticable damage is that the Atari has better graphics now. No lie. Not a blip of static... :?

Povlok1, I think you have a new mod to make.... :D

Notice: No Ataris, Carts, or Jungle Hunters were hurt in the making of this story!

Heehee.

...

Interesting to note that whichever way you may be using Big sexy, either the true way or the heretical relabelling, it works.

...his love for wires...

Do you REALLY love wires? When I was in high school, my mom came into my room, saw all of the cords I had running all over the place and commented, "You sure do love cords."

WRONG!

I HATE cords! I DESPISE them! I wish EVERYTHING were wireless. (We're moving in that direction... but until all of these devices run on solar power -- which they SHOULD be able to do already -- I'm still going to be stuck with SOME wires around.)

See, here's the thing. I bet very few of us actually love the WIRES themselves. Most of you, like me, probably HATE them. It's just that we love the things the wires are CONNECTED to...

:ponder:

Ah, cruel technology... why must you torment us all????

god i HATE wires. especially when you have dozens upon dozens of systems connected, its like some kind of bizzare ritualistic web. wires SUCK. I only hope one day some enterprising lover of classic things devises a way to entirely unwire it all....

I don't love the wires themselves...I was just trying to contribute to the feeling of the story by throwing in some synecdoche, ya know? ;)

I have discovered the secret! I will now make mods by dropping Ataris everywhere! Try it! Put the faker out of business! ;)

(Please don't listen to that... )

And, I just checked, and the DVD player has a slightly dented corner in the casing metal, but the plastic of the 2600 is fine! :D

I love wires.

Without wires, I probably couldn't find anything.
