joeybastard #1 Posted November 13, 2003 What's the best Dreamcast joystick? I'd like to pick one up for fighters and some of the sports games.
PuddWakkr #2 Posted November 13, 2003 DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT get an Enforcer joystick. I got one complete in the box for $4.00 and it was not worth it. Stick was terrible. Luckily I picked up a DC adapter for my X-Arcade stick which is pricey but nice and I can also use it on my PSX, XBox, Cube, and PC.
joeybastard #3 Posted November 13, 2003 What was so bad about the Enforcer?
Clint Thompson #4 Posted November 13, 2003 I have an enforcer... don't use it very often. It's not terrible but it's not great either. I think it just has the lack of feeling for control with the stick (clickity click) unlike natural arcade sticks. If I could find more for $4.00, I would buy them however (it's good regardless for some friends to play on
Atarinvader #5 Posted November 13, 2003 Get the offical Sega Arcade sticks, they would withstand a nuclear blast. And, they're nice and clicky. They also did some limited edition SNK and Capcom pads for CVS in Japan, supposed to be great... if you can get your hands on them. They had little information cards on different fighters and stuff. I think they were by ASCII, but could be wrong. You could also hook up one of those X-Cade sticks.
PuddWakkr #6 Posted November 14, 2003 Joystick on the enforcer is all mushy and it clicks Worst stick I've ever used. I let my two year old toss it around and stand on it cause it's so shitty.
oesii #7 Posted November 14, 2003 You could also hook up one of those X-Cade sticks. I would recommend this as well, you can get the single player version for $99 and it can be fitted to work for the DC or PC Mame among many others. http://www.x-arcade.com/
Starscream #8 Posted November 14, 2003 I have the official ones. they are great. Nice thing about those compared to the Xarcade ones is the Sega ones have the VMU slot
Ze_ro #9 Posted November 14, 2003 Anyone ever tried the Panther XL with the FPS games out there? I've always been curious about that thing. --Zero
JB #10 Posted November 17, 2003 The Enforcer isn't bad(at least, not compared to a gamepad), but it's not GOOD either. Personally, I'm using a "DragonCast". It was all I could find at a reasonable price when I needed a new stick(my Enforcer jumped off a shelf, the plug got mangled, and the transplant from an extension cable was rejected). http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...d2c7ce735b905c3 Mine's solid silver. A plus over a lot of other sticks(well, reasonably-priced ones, anyways) is the buttons are microswitched and feel good too(most sticks use the same rubber switches with carbon dots as you find in your gamepad). On the minus side... L and R are mislabelled. You have to press the reset button on teh stick when it's plugged in or the system is turned on, because it doesn't initialize properly, and random buttons start with turbo fire on, or slow-mo starts on(I SO hate the slow-mo button). Start isn't exactly easy to hit. It's still a lot better than the Enforcer ever was.
