Curt Vendel #1 Posted November 15, 2003 From the pinout and spec's its the same lines and frequency, anyone ever try hooking an SC1224 or SM124 up to a PC 9pin EGA/VGA port??? I have a stack of Atari PC-1's with no monitors and it would be great to be able to use existing Atari monitors and hook them up the PC-1's, then GEM could be loaded up onto them and run in color or even in B&W, either way it would be nice, then I could make all these units available for sale cheap out the community. +Mitch #2 Posted November 15, 2003 Won't work. EGA is digital RGB and the Atari monitors only handle analog RGB. VGA is also analog RGB but at a higher refresh rate. Some Commodore monitors will handle CGA though. My 1080 can handle CGA but I don't think it can do EGA. Mitch

Curt Vendel #4 Posted November 15, 2003 I was figuring like $25 for the PC1 and like $35 with a monitor if I can get some cheap color monitors, its a damn nice system, great to just add with your Atari 8 bit setup and use as an SIO2PC host too. Gunstar #6 Posted November 16, 2003 I would be interested in one of those PC-1's as-is. I have an old PS/1 VGA 9-pin monitor that I've no use for at the moment.
TwiliteZoner #7 Posted November 16, 2003 Count me in for a PC1 Curt! Thanks
Joey Kay #8 Posted November 17, 2003 Perhaps we're putting the cart before the horse here, but... I would certainly consider picking up a PC-1 as well if you should choose to sell some! I'll keep my eyes peeled for a forum if you choose to sell some! Cheers! Joey
Curt Vendel #9 Posted November 17, 2003 Will do guys, will let you in in 1-2 weeks on the PC-1's. just need to test, and clean them, make sets of MS DOS and GEM disks for each one and make sure I have enough of the real Atari keyboards for them and if not, get a few generic keyboards too, but the fully real-deal PC-1's will be sold first. Bryan #10 Posted November 17, 2003 It should be pretty easy to convert CGA colors to RGB with a simple circuit. -Bry

Goochman #12 Posted November 17, 2003 Sorry for my lack of knowledge - What are these PC1's (processer, ram, HD, EGA, CDROM, etc...) Also, It appears that you would be stuck using the Atari monitor with these correct? ARe there any slots to add a network card or something?

Mitch Youre right - I checked out the specs on Curts website - 8088, 8mhz, EGA graphics and a floppy drive. No idea on ISA slots or HD capability. Its a cool looking case though - looks like a mega.
