But unfortunately it happens all the time with many products, not just eBay. For example, ever gone to a car dealership and looked at a NEW car that has 10, 15 or more miles on it? Or a store that will sell you a "floor model" for the same price as a boxed one? Mendon

This is because when they come off the truck most cars have 2 miles on them then the technician has to test drive the car to make sure everything works properly. Then you have to throw in test drives which adds another mile or two.

I used to work for Elhart Dodge and I had the job of taking the cars off the truck and drive it around, flip every switch and lever, making sure everything works. Then I would have to wash the whole thing on the outside and put rustproofing, and other accessories like rear spoilers and stuff.

At every Ford dealership the technicians check the car out and install loose accessories and the porters clean them. And that's how it should be...another reason why I'll never buy a Chrysler product.

bjk7382 #9 Posted November 18, 2003 Well, if you read the description, the sucker that BINed it will get free shipping. NOT that I think 12.00 is reasonable or anything.

Mendon #11 Posted November 18, 2003 We went looking at car's a couple months back; we'd stroll thru the lot with the salesman making his pitch on each and everyone we stopped at. When we found one that looked interesting, the salesman would run back to the office, fetch a set of keys and we would test drive it. We walked off the lot after driving 3 new car's and those car's were put right back in the same spot for the next person to look at. The three cars we test drove ain't new anymore because we put miles on them but they will be sold as new. A couple of miles is expected (to get them on and off the truck, for tech's to do their thing, etc) but not 15, 20, 25 miles etc. Went to Best Buy to get a new computer monitor; picked the one I wanted and the guy said the only one they had left in stock was the display model on the shelf, which was running. I asked if they would knock something off the price since it was now "used" because it was running while on the shelf. Nope, but they had the box and paperwork. That was the only observation I was trying to make; lots of things are sold as new that really aren't. Mendon
Mendon #12 Posted November 18, 2003 I posted about this auction in the eBay forum and was wondering at that time if maybe this cartridge was one of the very recently released ones. If so, I know there is nothing really wrong with selling your copy but it sure feels wrong knowing so many people want this game for the sheer pleasure of playing it, while others might have bought the last copies released just to make a buck. Oh well... such is life. Mendon
MegaData #13 Posted November 19, 2003 It certainly does amaze me when someone links to images from someone elses site and steals their bandwidth. Has anyone contacted ScatoLOGIC or eBay about the links, even if it is a bit late now? All of the games I sell as NEW have not been played. Sometimes I'd like to open them just to make certain everything works though. I feel more comfortable selling the used stuff with a test run. Ah, but generally the customers want things new and mint, so what can you do? Isn't Thunderbird still selling these games on JI2? Maybe that's just to people on wait lists? Hehehe, I know, it's just to people who refuse to use AtariAge.
