RCmodeler #1 Posted November 19, 2003 I just picked it up today, and I plan to beat it tomorrow night. I hope it's entertaining!

RCmodeler #3 Posted November 20, 2003 I played about an hour yesterday. It reminds me of Charlie's Angels! Girls... dance music... and spontaneous posing.
RCmodeler #4 Posted November 21, 2003 10 hours later: I DON'T LIKE THE BATTLE ENGINE. First off, the camera is damn annoying since it keeps moving around, and very, very often one of the characters is off-screen so you can't really see what's going on. Second, the pace is so fast that you can't really see the battle. You're too busy inputing commands! I turned on "slow" and "wait" to try to fix this problem, but I still find myself missing the action. Third, the stupid damage numbers appear and disappear so quickly that it's impossible to gauge how much damage you've done to the enemy. There should be a floating indicator "Total Damage = 350" as was done in Grandia 1 & 2. The string of numbers used in FF10-2 are worthless. Finally, the active-time battle is not the same as FF4-FF9. In those games when you input a command, it was executed immediately. In FF10-2, your character stands for several seconds in a cloud of "magic mist" before doing anything. It can be *very* frustrating sometimes when you say, "Item-Potion" and while your character is waiting to execute that command, they get killed off. Argh! I can understand why magic spells require time to execute, but why potions and other items??? They should be instantaneous. HERE'S WHAT I LIKE: The Dress Spheres. It's basically the same as FF5's job system, except now you can change your job in battle. VERY cool. I loved FF5's job system. And each character learns their job gradually, rather than instantaneously like FF7... a vast improvement. (In FF7 if Cloud learns Fire3, you can instantly transfer Fire3 to Tifa or Barrett.) (In FF10-2, if Paine knows Firaga, and you switch the dress sphere to Yuna, Yuna can only use Fire. Learning is gradual... as it should be.) Paine's barely-there black mage costume. Black never looked so sexy! (mmmm... cleavage) Yuna's teeny-weeny-polka-dot-bikini... er, thief costume. Wow. Rikku in just about any costume! THIS IS LEGEND OF MANA AGAIN Is that the title? I forget. Anyway, FF10-2 is set-up the same way: Sub-divided into multiple sub-stories/missions that you can execute in any order. Where FF10 was totally linear, FF10-2 is totally NON-linear. You can run all over Spira in whatever order you feel like!!! I've barely started playing the game, but I think this was definitely worth buying. It's a fun-filled Role-Playing Game. Now all that's missing is the story. I'm anxious to see how this Yuna-Tidus story turns out. I only wish that Square (they were still Square when this game was made) had spent a little more time polishing the battle system and making it easier to use. smile_walle #5 Posted November 21, 2003 I havnt bought FF 10-2 just yet, beacuse the reason is I dont have Playstation 2 console, that why. I did ALREADY played FF 10 done, beacuse Im using my brother's PS2 console. I would like to get PS2 console for my own.
RCmodeler #6 Posted November 21, 2003 MORE THOUGHTS: Rikku's Brother & Yuna are cousins (their fathers are brothers). And Brother is trying to make love to his cousin Yuna?!?!? Obviously Japanese views of what's acceptable are very, very different than ours..... well, unless you live in hill-billy country.
Tempest #7 Posted November 21, 2003 I picked this up yesterday, but I haven't played it yet. I plan to get to it over this weekend. Does it look like a long game? It seems like FF X was too short. Tempest
RCmodeler #8 Posted November 21, 2003 With all of the different missions (5 chapters * ~15 missions per chaper) it would take a long, long time to see everything. Problem: A lot of the missions (hand out 10 ballons to random people or wander around Spira looking for a husband for Rikku) are so dumb that you wouldn't want to waste your time doing them. So if you stick to the core story (like I'm doing) than it's probably a 30 hour game tops. BTW, I just discovered the pool scene. Funny! Rikku, for whatever reason, is comparing breast sizes with her colleagues! Heh. Apparently Square decided to throw some hentai-humor into this game. ubersaurus #9 Posted November 21, 2003 You said hentai humor. Shoot yourself for a lack of understanding of english AND japanese.
madblownaway #10 Posted November 21, 2003 The whole point of side missions is so you can get all the items special items and dresspheres. Not only that you can level up which you are true to rpgs is very important. It seems you have not learned to use abilties or the dresspheres yet they are very important. Different dresspheres different order is very important. You are like so many new gamers out there who just want to beat a game and not find more to it. Oh and by the way you need the side missions in order to trigger certain events so you can beat the game.
MegaManFan #11 Posted November 22, 2003 Are people really calling it ten-two? I heard Jerry Lawler say that on Raw Monday night and it sounded SO bad. Even if X is the tenth game, I always have called it X for some reason, and still do.
RCmodeler #12 Posted November 22, 2003 You are like so many new gamers out there who just want to beat a game and not find more to it. Yep, basically. I consider most of those side-quests (like finding a husband for Rikku) to be boring crap. I only care about the main story. And no, I don't know Japanese.
madblownaway #13 Posted November 22, 2003 Then You won't enjoy it cuz like I said those side quests trigger certain events.
RCmodeler #14 Posted November 22, 2003 Sorry bud, but I already have FF10-2 and I *am* enjoying it. A lot. I'm just skipping over the boring "fetch the balloon" or "find 10 missing persons" side quests.
madblownaway #15 Posted November 23, 2003 Then you'll get the really sucky ending then.
RCmodeler #16 Posted November 23, 2003 Whatever... that's why kazaa was invented: To provide a place for lazy gamers to find the bonus/good endings. That's how I saw the FF10:Another Story and the Kingdom Hearts 2 Preview.
smile_walle #17 Posted November 28, 2003 Well, I will going to buy Final Fantasy X-2 very soon. I will going to see if I like it or not. I bet that im going to miss Final Fantasy 10, beacuse I like old way of RPG style. I know X-2 is very different style of RPG, maybe I will might get confusion a bit. If im correct? holy_fluck #18 Posted November 28, 2003 I played the game for a bit and found out that I didnt have enough room on my memory card. What I did play was pretty good though. My brother is playing through it and he says its a really good game. I also think its good as well. So i guess to you haters, play the game for a while first before and dont say your never gonna play it just cause its on PS2 or some crap like that
Tempest #19 Posted November 28, 2003 I started to play it, but I'm to enthralled with FF XI now. I'll get back to it sooner or later. Tempest
smile_walle #20 Posted December 7, 2003 I have heard some of Final Fantasy fans pefer stick with FF10 than FF 10-2. Any thoughts?
RCmodeler #21 Posted December 8, 2003 I like both equally fighting styles. FF10-2 is basically just an active time battle like FF4-9 were. STORY: FF10 is better. But FF10-2 is good too, since it shows the "aftermath" of Sin.

chrisbid #25 Posted January 4, 2004 i tried it last night at my friends house and wow, the world of spira has gotten super cheesy. If pop music rules the world like that, i hope Sin comes back at the end of the game
