Raijin Z #2 Posted November 23, 2003 Man, was that list composed by a random word generator? I take Game Informer less seriously than EGM and Gamepro's April issues. Hell, READER'S DIGEST is more respectable gaming publication.
compacho #3 Posted November 23, 2003 Man, that is one weird list. My amish friend could have made a better list.
ElephantStyle #4 Posted November 23, 2003 Eternal Darkness should be in the top 10 easily.
JerseyDevil #5 Posted November 23, 2003 Eternal Darkness should be in the top 10 easily. Agree, and Metal Gear Solid 2 should be out of the top ten. It was good but way over-rated.
raindog #6 Posted November 23, 2003 I feel a little validated now, since every GC game I've bought except baseball and Bomberman is on the list
sku_u #7 Posted November 23, 2003 Ico and Metroid Prime should have been higher up on that list. They didn't do a bad job overall.

shep #9 Posted November 23, 2003 a really obscure, yet awesome game, like ico however, alot of people overlooked it...

PuddWakkr #11 Posted November 23, 2003 I have no problem with the top 5 games. The rest of the list however is complete shit.
Foxy Cleopatra #12 Posted November 23, 2003 I have no problem with the top 5 games. The rest of the list however is complete shit. Of course you've played all 45 of the other games, esp. Ico, DMC, Kingdom Hearts, all the PS2 games in general? I reserve comments on games I haven't played or seen.

Damn that's sooo novel. Or maybe it should be # 1 cuz it's a sequel, yea that's inovative and unique.... GameInformer put it at #1 because it's graphics are soooo good, it's characters look so good, it's colorful, it's story is in the "same vein as other Zelda titles, though completely new story". The defining moment...the Princess helps fight the Prince of Theives, and at the final blow "leaps high into the air and comes down sword-first at terminal velocity to impale Ganon right through the skull with the Master Sword. Damn." Oh yea with qualities like those it's hard to beat. Damn did he really jump high in the air and impale him right through the skell? At terminal velocity, no less? Wow that f***ing rocks! Link is one bad-ass mother fucker.

Foxy Cleopatra #16 Posted November 23, 2003 I reserve comments on games I haven't played or seen. You been sneaking over my place to play Zelda when I'm not at home? No I've seen it, watched E play it at TRU. I've seen Steel Battalion, watched it played, too so I'll comment on both those games. Suikoden III, know nothing about it, therefore no comment. Ikaruga, never seen it, never played it, no comment. Of the games I have seen/played on the list I don't think Zelda is the "Greatest" of those. And for a list that is called "Greatest", not "Highest Selling" I wouldn't put Zelda at the top of it. Maybe FF-X, maybe Panzer Dragoon Orta, maybe Splinter Cell, more likely Steel Battalion. Shenmue II and JSRF not even on the list? PDO not on the list? A game is not the greatest, because a lot of people buy it, because it has pretty characters and is "colorful". Starscream #17 Posted November 24, 2003 Wow as soon as I got to #39 (RTCW for the XB) I knew this list was shot. That game hugs. Well ok, it isn't horrible but by no means one of the 50 greatest. I wouldn't put it in the 100 greatest for that matter. Same with any sports game. Those get updated every damn year so to call them the greatest is really putting filler in the list. No Shenmue? Jak & Daxter? Steel Battalion at #29?!!! Then when ya get to #26 RE For the GC, I fell off the couch laughing. Yea that game isn't modern, it's what 8 yrs old. I guess pretty updated graphics made it rank If that's the case, Splinter Cell should have been listed for XB only instead of being included with the watered down versions. for the top 5 the only 2 even deserving of being there are FF and GTA:VC. The other 3 are not exceptional by any means. Thankfully I was given something to bitch about today though and for that I am glad this list exists
Gabriel #18 Posted November 24, 2003 Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance holding a spot as one of the greatest games of this console generation while Soul Calibur 2 doesn't even make the list is the very definition of screwed up. The fact MK:DA even made this kind of list is a sad testament to the writers of the article, or this generation of games. Take your pick. All in all, a very poor list geared towards driving sales of certain games at Gamestop.

King Atari #20 Posted November 25, 2003 Then when ya get to #26 RE For the GC, I fell off the couch laughing. Yea that game isn't modern, it's what 8 yrs old. I guess pretty updated graphics made it rank RE for GC is far more than just updated graphics, there are many new elements that make it seem like an almost new game. I think RE0 was better, though. chrisbid #21 Posted November 25, 2003 i dont even know if there are 50 games in this generation worth owning... now if you had a list of 50 dreamcast games, that may be possible
Gregory DG #22 Posted November 25, 2003 What? No Marip 64? The game NEXT Generation called the "Greatest game of all time?"
King Atari #23 Posted November 26, 2003 Mario 64 was the previous generation. Actually, GI said it could hold it's own against any game on that list. I thought it was pretty cool that they acknowledged it like that (I agree 100 %).
