SpendTooMuchOnAtari #1 Posted November 24, 2003 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...2&category=3537 People are such jerks! eBay is getting worse and worse with these crappy scamming sellers.
SpendTooMuchOnAtari #2 Posted November 24, 2003 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3060929368 Here's another scam from the same seller.....actually, I think every auction they post is a S&H scam with the silly BIN. $8 to ship one NES game and look at which one it is. This person makes me mad.
Room 34 #3 Posted November 24, 2003 I guess since you posted the first message the seller has lowered the 4 Atari carts auction's shipping to a very "reasonable" $12. Well, sure... if you ship each cartridge in its own separate Priority Mail box! This should be reported. Even if you shipped these Priority Mail and tacked on over $1 for "handling" shipping should not be more than $5.
mark #4 Posted November 24, 2003 I came here to post this crap auction but he beat me 2 it.
jetset #5 Posted November 24, 2003 Hey...what was the name of that user that gripes and complains all the time about these jerkoffs charging "handling" fees to jack up their profits? I even recall he kinda got ganged up on in one of the threads by some of the ebay seller members right here on this board once.... Oh wait....that's ME!!!! I told you guys...only gonna get worse. jetset #7 Posted November 24, 2003 ebay gigs ya the 'final value assesment' fee at auction close remember.. what is it, 3% i think? well.. that dosnt count for shipping.. ther not really scamming peeps with this deal, ther screwing ebay out of ther commision.. 5.25% I think...true they're only screwing ebay, but next time listing or other ebay fees go up, you'll know why. A shoplifter figures he's only stealing from the big, bad supermarket but in the end the losses are passed on to the consumer.
povlok1 #8 Posted November 24, 2003 lol.. ya.. ebay is really 'loosing' money considering how much money ebay makes.. they give [email protected] back in customer support
jetset #9 Posted November 24, 2003 lol.. ya.. ebay is really 'loosing' money considering how much money ebay makes.. they give [email protected] back in customer support True, but does the amount of $$ they make and lack of customer support make it ok to effectively steal from them? mark #10 Posted November 25, 2003 Ya know the more I think about this seller the smarter I think he is. I mean if ebay lets you get away with this why not? I don't think auctions like this effect us cause there is not many sellers like this really. Ebay is sort of expensive anyway. Can some of you comment on this? jetset #11 Posted November 25, 2003 This should be reported. 'Tis done.
donkeykong1 #12 Posted November 25, 2003 I asked the seller about the shipping($8.00) "Would that be express shipping?"
donkeykong1 #13 Posted November 26, 2003 This is the response I get "Dear valued customer, We thank you for your question regarding this item on eBay. However, due to the high volume of email we receive, it is often not possible for us to reply to your questions instantly. We will try to get back with you within twenty four hours. Thanks so much and have a grand day!" 15 minutes later I got this "3-day shipping" Now wouldn't that be priority? Which costs $3.85.
the-daryl #14 Posted November 26, 2003 3-day shipping could also mean :I will send it in three days... or even better, First Class, which is similiar to priority but not the same guarentees... the moral is avoid the shipping demon ( it's whack
jetset #15 Posted November 27, 2003 Hmm...maybe ebay does listen to complaints. I reported him and the shipping got lowered to $7. Still a rape though.
moycon #16 Posted November 27, 2003 I like his little tag line at the bottom of the auction: Confess JESUS As Lord & Be Saved It should read: Confess JESUS As Lord & Be Saved of Everything But Ridiculously High Shipping Cost From Me In regards to ripping off Ebay..Which he is no doubt doing by offering extremely low BINs but then gouging on the shipping.... WWJD ???
RCmodeler #17 Posted November 28, 2003 First, I agree the $12 is outrageous. I'd probably charge $4 (1st class/small box). Second, when you go buy from a store like EBgames or JCPenney, you don't pay just for the item. You also pay for the store itself, the lights/heating, the wages for employees, the advertising, furniture, and so on. You pay the store's expenses. Is it any surprise that the same is true for Ebay? Smart, business-savvy sellers will pass their costs (packaging, fees, commissions) on to the buyer. That's why I charge $5 shipping for videos. Actual cost is about $3.50, but the extra $1 covers miscellaneous fees like gas, listing, and ebay/paypal commissions. To charge less would be to lose money, and I'm not that stupid. Neither are stores like Ebgames or JCPenney. They buy Levi's jeans for $5. And then they add ~$35 to cover their costs of business. ASIDE: (I was laid-off from work (ex-engineer). I have no choice but to sell my stuff to pay rent/electric/heating/et cetera. Naturally I try to get as much money off ebay as possible.)
