Iron Soldier 3 NUON on E-Bay

Recommended Posts

He he!

I bought my factory sealed copy on eBay less than 6 months ago. Final price? Under $60!

BTW, if anyone is interested, I have an extra original IRON SOLDIER 3 NUON disc I may be willing to part with since I already have the full version. Please note that this disc that I'd sell DOES NOT have the unsightly sharpie magic marker defacement like the copies that were given out via Nuon-Dome back in November 2001! :) PM me an offer if you're interested.

Here's a quick pic of the actual disc-only copy for sale (bottom-right in the picture below....right next to my copy of THE NEXT TETRIS! :D )

So can you still get the NUON dvd players that play these games?

You can still find NUON Dvd players in stock at some online retailers and eBay. Best Buy used to stock the Samsung and Toshiba models, but as is the case with most home electronics, these devices were phased out eventually. Of course, the demise of VM Labs didn't help matters, but to answer your question, yes, NUON players can still be had.

Thanks for the info, but how do you play the games without a controller? I guess I am just not getting how games are played on a dvd player.

And VM labs were the only ones that made the games, so they are all out of print?

All the NUON players released in the US (with the exception of the RCA models) have controller ports in the front. Logitech and a company calle HPI made controllers for use with NUON games. You can also use the remote control to play, but that is NOT recommended.

VM Labs developed NUON technology and the chipsets. The games were published by various companies, I believe a company called DVD International handled the actual printing of the discs. The games are easily obtainable but there aren't a lot of games that were actually released. See the photo in my previous thread with the mutliple NUON discs? That's the ENTIRE library of NUON games that was released in the USA! Not many, but IS3 and The Next Tetris are generally pretty hard to find. Everything else can be bought new from a number of online retailers.

Check out www.nuon-dome.com for more NUON info or feel free to PM me with any specific questions! :)

There are controller ports at the front of the NUON-compatible DVD players. They hide behind a little panel you remove to access them. There were three commercially available controllers (and a couple of pack-in versions). The best one, the "Stealth" I believe, was basically an N64-style controller, but with modified functionality. So, basically, it's just like any game system. Plug in controller, boot system, play game.

And VMLabs didn't actually make the games (although I think they were officially behind Tetris 3000). They were manufactured by a company called DVD International, who also made several "Interactive Movie" titles based on licensed properties like "Xena" and "Ace Ventura" that could be played on any DVD player. The company was purchased not long ago and has been moved in a new corporate direction. All NUON titles are most definitely out of print.

But that's what gives the Nuon-Dome versions they're charm! :D

Besides, how else can one prove the've got an "authentic Nuon-Dome version" without the writing by K3V on the front? :P
