Someone stole my buyer's $100 package...

Recommended Posts

I have delivery confirmation, so I know it was delivered. But the buyer claims he did not receive it, and he demands a $100 refund. He says if I don't, he'll contact paypal/ebay and get me suspended.

Should I be worried?

I know when I ordered from amazon.com, and my package disappared because it was stolen, amazon did nothing. No refund. So I figure I can follow the same policy with my buyer.

im not possitive on this but.. I believe paypal will ask you for delivery confirmation, as long as you have that.. I think you are fine. I believe paypal will not hold you responsible as long as you proved you sent it out

Yes, if you have delivery confirmation and it post office say's it was delivered, then you are fine. Just relay this info to Ebay with the confirmation code and tell the bidder you are doing so. It's not your fault if someone else stole it, or like the others have said, maybe he is just trying to get his money back and keep the item you sold him!!

I had someone do that with a 50 dollar item I sent out.

It was when I was first starting on ebay and I didn't use delivery conf. and they had a paypal case going against me and everything. Then almost a MONTH later she emails me and tells me "I just got it today" So I guess the post office was to blame there.

True if you have delivery confirmation paypal will side with you, BUT if this person payed with a credit card then you are probably screwed. As his credit card company will most likely side with there cardmember instead of you.

In which case paypal will then try to take the disputed amount from you.

A question. Why did'nt you make insurance mandatory on an item valued at $100?

I put delivery confirmation on anything from 10 - 20 dollars and insruance on things 20 dollars and higher.

What if he really didn't receive the package? Why does everyone assume he is dishonest? Delivery Confirmation does not prove delivery, it is scanned at his local PO. That is not proof the package made it to his house.

But it is still a piece of SOLID evidence that it got delivered. That looks better than someones word. Especially if they don't want to pay for something.

Actually, even by the Post Office rules, Delivery Confirmation ISN'T really proof of delivery OR non delivery. I had a package that was lost, it had insurance and DC on it. When I filed the insurance claim, the post office STILL WANTED PROOF (in the form of a signed letter) from the other person that he didn't receive it, EVEN THOUGH the DC scan CLEARLY showed that it was never even delivered, and never even made it anywhere NEAR where it had to go. Go figure. :?

Even if the post office sent the package to the wrong address, as long as RCmodeler mailed it out using the persons right address on the package and used delivery confirmation, the person receiving the package might be honest, but it is out of RCmodelers hands and he should not have to send the buyers money back.

I just recently purchased a hard drive from eBay. It was insured and tracked through UPS. I checked UPS Tracking often, and the day it said it would arrive, the tracking said it was delivered, but I NEVER received it! I emailed the guy and told him I never got it. 4 days later, it was delivered with big black letters "Delivered to wrong addres". My address is 5429 Earnell. There is a house on the next street over which is 5429 Edgerly. Stupid UPS people! RTFA (Read the F****** address!).

Now I'm dealing with bad packaging from the sender (he sent a laptop drive in a padded mailer). The hard drive was dented in the middle so it's not spinning up. Anyway, moral is most people that say they don't receive it, REALLY don't receive it, even with 'delivery confirmation and tracking'!
